Awesome As I Wanna Be is the eighth of eleven songs from My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks. The title is first mentioned during a rehearsal of the Rainbooms. The song marks the first time Rainbow Dash has sole lead vocals. One of the lyrics makes a reference to the "20% cooler" joke from Suited For Success, specifically from the reprise of Art of the Dress. The song serves as the seventh track on the soundtrack album "My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack", under the title Awesome as I Want to Be.

The song takes place during the second round of the Battle of the Bands. The second verse is not in the film because Sunset cuts it short when she notices only Rainbow transforming.
