Awesome As I Wanna Be is the eighth of eleven songs from My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks. The song marks the first time Rainbow Dash has sole lead vocals. The song's title is first mentioned during the Rainbooms' rehearsal session, and it is later performed during the third round of the Battle of the Bands. The second verse is not in the film because Sunset cuts the song short when she notices Rainbow transforming.

One of the lyrics makes a reference to the "20% cooler" joke from Suited For Success, specifically from the reprise of Art of the Dress. The song serves as the seventh track on the My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, under the title Awesome as I Want to Be.
