Barley Barrel and G4 Pickle Barrel are Pegasus pony foals and supporting characters in the hour-long special My Little Pony: Rainbow Roadtrip. They are fraternal twins, residents of Hope Hollow, and president and assistant president respectively of Rainbow Dash's fan club in Hope Hollow.
G5 Pickle Barrel is a male Earth pony/seapony original character who appears[5] in the IDW comics' IDW Endless Summer—My Little Pony, My Little Pony: Kenbucky Roller Derby Issue #4, and My Little Pony: Set Your Sail Issue #4.
Development[]
In early March 2023, G5 Pickle Barrel was conceptualized by Riley Farmer and drawn by Natalie Haines.[6]
Depiction in the series[]
Barley and Pickle are very competitive.
In My Little Pony: Rainbow Roadtrip, Barley and Pickle appear as the president and assistant president, and apparently the only two members, of the Rainbow Dash Fan Club in Hope Hollow. They first appear racing competitively through town, stopping just short of crashing into the Mane Six. When they see Rainbow Dash among the ponies, they awkwardly back away and leave. They later appear attempting to perform aerial stunts (with no success) just outside town, where they meet Rainbow Dash again, introduce themselves, and ask her to teach them some of her flying moves. Rainbow agrees to teach them some basic maneuvers and enlists them to put on an aerial show at the Rainbow Festival. Barley and Pickle's excitement at this causes some colors to start returning to the gray town.
After some time spent practicing, Barley and Pickle show great improvement in their flying, impressing Rainbow Dash's friends and other Hope Hollow residents, though they still lack some coordination and landing skill. In the town square, Kerfuffle gives the twins matching red flight goggles, and they witness as color returns to Hope Hollow little by little.
As Hope Hollow regains more and more of its color, Barley and Pickle watch the Rainbow Festival begin, and they regain their colors as well when Rainbow Dash introduces them to the crowd as "Junior Wonderbolts". Together, the three put on a air show that ends with Rainbow performing a sonic rainboom. Barley and Pickle then celebrate the return of the town's color with the Mane Six and the rest of Hope Hollow during the song Living in Color, and they watch as the Mane Six leave in their repaired hot air balloon.

Barley Barrel and Pickle Barrel are characters in Gameloft's mobile game, added in the "Rainbow Roadtrip" event. Pickle also serves as a helper in the "Dash to the Future" event.

Personality[]
Like Rainbow Dash, Barley and Pickle are shown to be competitive thrill-seekers who like to fly, race, and do air tricks. They are also shown to frequently argue with each other. The only thing they appear to be in perfect agreement on, however, is their deep admiration of Rainbow Dash, as demonstrated by their founding of Hope Hollow's Rainbow Dash Fan Club, memorization of all of her signature flying moves, calling her their favorite Wonderbolt, and not wanting to embarrass themselves in front of her. In one instance, Pickle even imitates Rainbow's "twenty percent cooler" phrase.
