Cute-pocalypse Meow (Parts 1 and 2) is the fourth episode of My Little Pony: Pony Life. The title is a reference to the 1979 film Apocalypse Now.

In this episode, Fluttershy makes an adorable new friend with a dark sense of humor, and she has to muster all of her cuteness to protect her friends from his dark side.

Summary

Part 1

Fluttershy makes a new friend who GETS her...

At Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie and her friends get themselves psyched up for the next round of the Royal Jelly Juggernaut, but Fluttershy's attempts at making an excited face come off as cute and non-threatening, despite her insistence that she has a "dark side". While observing ponies playing in the park, Fluttershy meets and befriends a cat named Bubbles Cherub McSquee who shares her unique sense of humor. Later, while communicating with Bubbles via tablet, the rest of the Mane Six read his messages; they see Bubbles' remarks as meanspirited, but Fluttershy thinks they are hilarious.

...but not everypony gets HIM.

Some time later, Fluttershy and Bubbles meet up with Rainbow Dash and Applejack to work out at the gym. Bubbles makes overly sarcastic and insensitive remarks the entire time and even plays some physical pranks. He does the same when he and Fluttershy meet up with Twilight Sparkle and Spike at the bookstore. When Fluttershy's friends call Bubbles out on his behavior, he counters by making adorable faces and showering Fluttershy with friendship gifts, causing her to excuse and forgive his rudeness.

Part 2

The definition of a toxic relationship.

Back at Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie practices making savory desserts instead of sweet desserts for the next round of the Royal Jelly Juggernaut. When she has trouble pulling off such recipes, she loses confidence in herself. Bubbles makes the comment that all reality television is trash, and it breaks Pinkie's spirit completely. When Fluttershy calls Bubbles out on this and his usual tactic of being cute and giving her presents does not work, he leaves in a huff and takes his presents to Fluttershy back. Realizing that Bubbles has been rude to her friends since meeting them, Fluttershy decides to confront him.

Never try to out-cute Fluttershy.

When Fluttershy confronts Bubbles outside another bakery in Ponyville, Bubbles has already moved on from his friendship with her and made another friend named Buttershy. Fluttershy calls Bubbles out on his true nature of being mean and turns her back on him for good. Bubbles tries once again to soothe Fluttershy's anger by being cute, but Fluttershy counters with her own cuteness. After beating Bubbles at his own game, Fluttershy apologizes to her friends for abandoning them in favor of someone as mean as Bubbles.

The next day, Pinkie Pie has successfully made a savory dessert recipe for the Royal Jelly Juggernaut – soup-and-salad cupcakes with a balsamic glaze frosting – but she has some sweet desserts set aside for her friends. Applejack comments that the sweets are "sweet as Fluttershy", but Fluttershy reminds her that she has a dark side.

Bubbles: Um, I didn't realize this was a class to learn how to count.

Bubbles: I'm sooooorryyyyy... [purrs]

Fluttershy: Ohhhh! You can't stay mad at that face!

Spike: This is literally the coolest place I've ever been in my entire life!

Bubbles: That's just sad.

Pinkie Pie: I couldn't do it! I had to add sugar! They're cupcakes, for crying out loud!

Bubbles: It's the truth. I just can't sugarcoat reality.

Pinkie Pie: But... you should sugarcoat everything!

Bubbles: If you can't handle me at my realest, then you don't deserve me at my cutest!

Bubbles: This is my new best friend Buttershy.

Fluttershy: You already have a new best friend?!

Buttershy: [deadpan] Bubbles, I'm bored. Make me laugh.

Bubbles: Heeeeeeeelp!

Buttershy: [deadpan] Oh, Bubbles. You're soooo funny.
