Dave Polsky is a film and television writer for My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.

Polsky initially became involved with Friendship is Magic through fellow writer Meghan McCarthy, who had recommended Polsky to show creator Lauren Faust. Polsky and McCarthy had previously worked together on Cartoon Network's Class of 3000.[1]

Known for writing mostly comedy-oriented stories in the first three seasons, Polsky challenged himself to write more complex and emotional stories in season four onward.[2] He has counted Too Many Pinkie Pies, Rarity Takes Manehattan, For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils, and Equestria Games among his personal favorites to write.[3]

In interviews, Polsky has cited Louis C.K.[4] and David O. Russell[5] among his artistic inspirations.

Outside My Little Pony, Polsky is best known for creating the Disney Channel original series The Buzz on Maggie, for which he was also a writer and executive producer. His other professional writing credits include the MTV game show Singled Out, South Park, The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show, The Cramp Twins, Cedric the Entertainer Presents, Class of 3000, Frank TV, Famous 5: On the Case, Pair of Kings, and Sonic Boom. Polsky was also a co-writer for Scary Movie 2.

On January 10, 2017, it was announced that Polsky would be spearheading Hanazuki: Full of Treasures, another series by Hasbro Studios, with a theatrical short based on the show accompanying My Little Pony The Movie.
