Family Trees Pt. 1[note 1] is the sixteenth episode of My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, the second episode of the series' Chapter 5, and the sixteenth episode overall. It is the first part of a midseason two-parter.
In this first part, Misty starts having strange dreams, and the ponies head to Bridlewood to see if the Wishing Tree can offer some answers.
Summary[]
Past memory or future vision?[]
The episode begins with Misty having a dream; in it, she is a little filly chasing a bunnycorn through the Bridlewood forest. She wanders into a dense fog, discovers a strange door at the base of a giant tree, and gets frightened when a large, shadowy figure appears behind her, causing her to wake up. Unsure if the dream was a memory from her past or a vision of the future, Misty goes to consult her friends.
At the Crystal Brighthouse in Maretime Bay, Misty explains her dream to her friends and reveals she has been having multiple strange dreams lately. Zipp Storm fears that the shadowy figure in Misty's dream is Opaline and that the dream itself is a sign that she will soon launch her attack on Equestria.
Izzy Moonbow believes the large tree could be Bridlewood's Wishing Tree, even though Misty has no memory of ever living in Bridlewood. The ponies decide to bring Misty to Bridlewood to see if anything there jogs her memory. Hitch Trailblazer decides to bring Sparky Sparkeroni with them as he has still not completely recovered from Opaline stealing his dragonfire.
Memories of Bridlewood[]
Upon arriving in Bridlewood, Misty immediately starts taking in the sights and delicacies, some of which seem vaguely familiar to her. Zipp, still worried about Opaline, tries to get Misty to remember more details about her dream – to an increasingly forceful degree – but Sunny Starscout tells Zipp to be patient with Misty and not push her too hard.
As the group explores more of Bridlewood, memories from when Misty was little start to flash in her head, like swinging on a swing set at the local playground. Each time Misty experiences these visions, her cutie mark glows. Meanwhile, at the Crystal Tea Room, Queen Haven has tea with Alphabittle. She suggests he expand his tea business to Zephyr Heights so that they can spend more time together, but Alphabittle declines, feeling a need to remain in Bridlewood "just in case".
The Mane 6 arrive at the Wishing Tree, which Misty recognizes from her dream, but there is no door. When Misty touches the tree, she has another memory of someone calling out to her in the fog and her being unable to find them. Misty realizes she did live in Bridlewood when she was little, but when she went out to collect glowpaz crystals one day, she got lost in the densely foggy forest and could not find her way back home.
Return of the Breezies[]
When Misty touches the Wishing Tree again, it reacts to her magic, glowing brightly and sprouting numerous glowing flowers. Small, fairy-like creatures suddenly emerge from the tree; Izzy and Sunny recognize these creatures as the Breezies, who have not been seen in Equestria for many years and are excited to interact with ponies again.
The Breezies invite the ponies into the "Night Market", a secret marketplace inside the Wishing Tree that they themselves manage, and encourage the ponies to peruse their items. Hitch searches the Night Market for something to help Sparky feel better. Alphabittle and Queen Haven soon find their way to the Night Market as well.
The vanishing of Misty Brightdawn[]
Misty experiences more flashes of memory; she recalls being in a similar marketplace surrounded by unicorns, but she cannot recall who she was with. One of the Breezies pulls Misty away from her friends and gives her a mysterious key, explaining that it will take her to wherever she most desires but that it can only be used once.
Misty believes the key goes to the door she saw in her dream. However, before she can inquire further, the Breezie who gave her the key has disappeared, and a fog starts to appear around her like the day she got separated from her home years before.
As Alphabittle and Queen Haven peruse the Breezies' wares, Haven notices Alphabittle's cutie mark glowing, which Zipp mentions has also been happening to Misty all day. She attempts to introduce the two, but Misty has mysteriously disappeared. The Mane 5 search all over the Night Market for Misty, but there is no sign of her anywhere.
- "She's... gone!"

Quotes[]
- For more quotes, see the episode's transcript.
- Misty: I don't think we're in danger right now.
- Mane 5: Phew!
- Misty: But we absolutely could be soon.
- Pipp Petals: Ooh! I love dream analysis! Like, did you know that everypony in your dreams is actually you?
- Izzy Moonbow: Oooh! So I'm actually a tap-dancing tube of paint and the queen of the hermit crabs?!
- Pipp Petals: Yes.
- Izzy Moonbow: A unicorn who's never been to Bridlewood?! What are we waiting for?! We have to take you there! Now! Now!
- Sunny Starscout: I wanna forage for some exotic forest berries for my smoothies! Do you think Alphabittle will have recommendations?
- Misty: Alpha-what-le?
- Pipp Petals: [chomps, gasps] Neigh way! When I don't record it, I can really taste it!
- Zipp Storm: You had another vision, didn't you?
- Misty: Uh... I don't think it was a vision. It felt like... a memory.
- Izzy Moonbow: A memory? You mean... [gasps] Maybe you are from Bridlewood?
- Alphabittle: I could never leave Bridlewood.
- Queen Haven: Why ever not?
- Alphabittle: I just... I need to be here in case.
- Misty: I did live here when I was small. But then one day, I went out collecting glowpaz crystals, and I got lost in the forest. And when I tried to make my way back, Bridlewood... was gone. Just... gone.
- Pipp Petals: Did anybody get that on video?!
- Izzy Moonbow: No, it couldn't be! I didn't think they were real!
- Zipp Storm: You didn't think what was real?!
- Izzy Moonbow: Breezies!
- Pipp Petals: This is not content! This is a real moment! Experience it, Pipp!
- Sunny Starscout: You know Breezie language, too?
- Hitch Trailblazer: It's our pony language, but at too high of a speed for most to understand them.
- Alphabittle: So you're saying if I can correctly guess what herbs you used in this tea, you'll give me the whole bag? You're on! I've never met a tea blend I can't name in three sips!
- Misty: [reading] "This enchanted key will take you to the place you most want to go. One-time use only"?
- Zipp Storm: Uh, where's Misty?
- Sunny Starscout: I last saw her at the berry booth. I thought she'd left to find you.
- Zipp Storm: She's... gone!
