Admin Abuse

I have been attempting to add a properly referenced comment to the Heartstrings article, with notes in the Comments discussing the change. User:Throwawaytv has been attempting to rule this *community resource* with an iron fist and revert these changes with *no discussion*. Followup: he seems to have started talking, now, but this appears to be an overall problem with the wiki: admins and people with "status" overpowering the community. Heck, there's something about the conditions under which admins can have their powers taken away for banning someone wrong! Changes were revered for lack of reliable sources. You were notified, in the edit summary, that you lack reliable sources. Your claims of no discussion are ridiculous. –Throwawaytv 12:17, November 4, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, lets clear a few things up. Firstly, my claims of no discussion were due to the initial revert, which did indeed occur before any discussion. Hence my followup after you began discussion. Secondly, the issue of reliable sources is one that requires discussing, due to the wildly varying standards. I provided sources in line with what is used elsewhere in the wiki.

The wiki is a community resource. You have only to look at the comments to see that the community wants to have a note about former fan names. We should accept things like Equestria Daily as a source, because it's the best thing we've got. As I mentioned in the discussion, the ED page was what was originally cited in the Heartstrings page move.We have a clear case of abuse here.

The following occurred:

1. Revert without discussion
2. Further reverts before consensus reached through discussion
3. Breach (by Throwawaytv) of the TRR
4. Banning of me because to "win" without consensus through discussion (claiming that I'd started an edit war, but if you look at the discussion and logs it was clearly started by Throwawaytv)
5. Deletion of the discussion from the comments in the Heartstrings page

I note that Throwawaytv is already under discussion to remove his bureaucrat powers, so it's obviously not the first time that he's acted inappropriately.

Admins are there to guide the community and keep things together, but a wiki cannot be ruled with an iron fist.

If you delete this comment, you're only abusing the system even more.

PS: You need not bother banning me for circumventing the block, there's no way I'm coming back anyway. You've gained and lost a valuable editor in the space of a few hours. Good work!
