Forums: Index > Wiki discussion > Admin rights for Bobogoobo
Bobogoobo is a major contributor to the wiki and a member of the image control group. He's recently requested to delete some files, and I think giving him admin rights will cut out the middle man and make it easier for him to improve the wiki. –Throwawaytv 12:31, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
Based on these criteria we can also consider giving the admin rights to Rallinale - uploading higher quality image versions and using {{delete}} to mark JPG files that were replaced by PNG. I am not opposed to this, but I think that current admins can handle the deletion by themselves. Teyandee (Talk) 16:42, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
Seeing as most of his contributions are in the File namespace, why not just add the (delete) right to the Image Control group? That would accomplish the reason for this nomination, and help make the upkeep in the File namespace much easier.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  03:54, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
Then would cause more need of higher upkeep in the Image Control group, Making sure they wouldn't mess up. Rift Cyra Floweff14.png .flow 03:58, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
They are chosen because they know what they're doing. I think they can be trusted not to mess up for the most part, and besides, proper deletion reasons are required when deleting something. Perhaps adding an abuse filter to prevent deletion of things in the main namespace as well, if that's even possible. 04:08, July 19, 2012 (UTC) Food 25px-Surprise.png
I agree and think this is a better idea. Deletion rights can be restricted to the File: namespace by default, without the abuse filter. –Throwawaytv 19:59, July 20, 2012 (UTC)
I'm not opposed in principle, but it's a little early after not even a month on the wiki, no offence. --Tulipclaymore 03:57, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
I honestly oppose since the user has shown his colors such as this as well I've kept tracked of his comments about snapping at users over the smalles bad edits. -  Azki_icon.pngZeiluse Talkpage Nurse_Redheart%27s_cutie_mark.png 04:43, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
I don't usually snap at people, I just like to make sure they're aware of the policies so that someone doesn't always have to clean up every edit to the wiki (and I always make at least the first reminder politely, unless they obviously have bad intentions). I only got frustrated at Euphgeek because of his nonchalance toward the issue of devaluing badges, which are meant actually to show accomplishment. But anyway, on topic, I'd have more edits in the mainspace if it were anywhere near the size of the file namespace, heh. Additionally, I can't mark article comments for deletion, but I've noticed many duplicate or inappropriate/abusive ones that didn't get deleted, so that's at least one other thing I could help with. Anyway, especially when I go through galleries soon to replace low-quality jpg images, there will be a ton more images to delete and it would be much more efficient to be able to do it myself. There are also a lot of images on Special:UnusedFiles that are linked from user blogs and simply need to be edited for a new file name, and normal users can't edit user blogs. ~Bobogoobo (talk new) | 04:53, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
Anyway anyway, I think it'll be easier to add file deletion rights to Image Control than try to appoint a new admin, and giving you deletion rights is the actual goal of this discussion. –Throwawaytv 19:59, July 20, 2012 (UTC)
