Appearances in the list[]

While we're at it (more specifically while I'm at building the full appearances list), is it worth adding an additional sortable column to the list which states their first appearance? It'd just be a column with, for example:

Rarity	unicorn	mare	hsl(207, 52%, 96%)¤	hsl(251, 35%, 55%)¤	hsl(211, 66%, 65%)¤	S1E01 12:02	See Rarity.

It'd have to be played around with in a sandbox of course to determine optimum column widths, but it's something people have been asking for. --Kinrah 18:21, January 29, 2012 (UTC)

Elaborating on that, once you decide to release your appearances list to the public it will supersede the appearances article. I will then take all your info, copy the list of ponies, remove the color and description columns, and put appearances tables there. So basically the appearances page will become a List of ponies that are only for appearances?

Suggest adding a new row under "Appearances, grouped in rows by season " caption with the number of episodes like in Character appearances to be able to quickly identity the particular episode where the character is (not) present. The easier way of doing that might be to keep the colours, but use the episode number in the header (1 || 2 || ...) and the tooltips for the colour blind (Y, N, M, B). --Tulipclaymore 19:55, January 29, 2012 (UTC)

The list is supposed to be sorted chronologically, and I've made a chronological list from Kinrah's first five episodes on my sandbox. I will now create a chart, and you can start filling it up. All of the characters from appearances are incorporated into it, it will supersede appearances and replace it. –Throwawaytv 21:10, January 29, 2012 (UTC)

Do we really need a list of appearances for every single pony in the show, when some of them have only ever turned up once? I would have thought this new method would work with the main characters and the recurring characters, but for all the other ponies I would have thought putting the episode/time of their first appearance would do. That's what somebody asked for in the comments for list of ponies. It just seems to be a waste of space for appearances entries for, say, Flim and Flam, because they're one-shot characters. --Kinrah 11:19, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

Thinking about it, I'd rather have another list for appearances with "wasted space" than cram another column into the already crammed list of ponies. I'll have a better idea of how it looks once the sandbox is back up. –Throwawaytv 19:18, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I tried it out, and it sucks. More than 50 rows per page make the page ungainly. We're gonna need a new design if we want a list of appearances for all ponies. –Throwawaytv 19:44, January 30, 2012 (UTC)
