This forum is used to nominate new users to receiving moderator rights on our Discord Server. Please follow all instructions below when making or contributing to a nomination. Thank you.

Eligibility criteria

• Nominated users must already be in the Ponyville Residents role to show frequent activity within the chat room. Nominations made without this requirement will be removed without warning.

• Users being nominated must have a good ban history with no bans being issued within the last 6 months.

• If a user is being nominated, the user being nominated must agree to such roles before being provided with them.

• Upon retrieval of the Moderator role, all successful nominees are required to serve a probationary period of at least 3 months. The outcome of this will be decided by administrative discretion.

Conduct

To protect the forum and it's integrity, please follow these guidelines to ensure discussion is held in an appropriate manner.

• Users are welcome to use the templates {{Support}}, {{Neutral}}, {{Oppose}} and {{Comment}} to allow the individual to make their views clear.
• Please elaborate why you are leaning towards your opinion, any participation that includes "Per this user" is not acceptable.
• Any users found to be soliciting participants could be banned on the discord chat and blocked on the Wiki as well as any users who agreed to take part under these circumstances.
• This forum is not the place to settle personal disputes, please remember to respect other users and their views.

How do I nominate?

• Wherever possible, make links to the Wiki (for example, if you have a FANDOM account, please link your username).
  • If the nominated user does not have a FANDOM account, please just remove the link.
• Discussions with unanimous support may be closed early if the discussion has no input for 3 consecutive days, others that do not meet this criteria must be kept open for a minimum of 10 days. As per the Wiki Discussions Policy.

• Hi there, anonymous user, and thanks in advance for reading; I'll keep it brief. This self-nomination goes up in light of our most recent Discord Moderator evaluation and the thinning in our server lawponies' ranks as of late. I've been a (mostly-)regular of the wiki's live chat server for four years and have kept a clean record since the days of MonchoMan's ChatHacks, when you couldn't see other folks typing and our moderators were denoted with little rocks next to their usernames. Remember that? Wowie. A very long time spent aloof as a civvy in our community has given me a good idea of what does and doesn't fly on either side of mod action. I've always been a vocal participant in forum deliberations, townhall discussions, and the like. My name is known, and in short, I believe I've made myself well enough established as an approachable and helpful figure among the bunch. To wrap this up and address the most foreseeable criticism: I may not be the most active chit-chatter, but I am online often and am always reachable by ping when listed as such. Support I know Klep in some other Servers, and I can say his behaviour is uniform across all of them. Klep is a very respectable user and I would see no issue in him having moderator rights.

Neutral leaning on Weak support. I know he's a good guy, but there's always the question, can this user be composed and cool in a terse environment? He's hollered for the mods and I remember him helping get the word out when I was the only mod on back in the day. I'd love to see him added, but does he know how to use the bot? Comment Why would you expect him to know how to use the bot? Why would you require that? The bot instructions are located in #mod-discussion, which is a channel that no user outside of the current Mod team is able to access. Isn't allowing the nominee to learn the ropes the whole point of the Trial Mod role that we have been giving out lately? Guildmaster Grovyle (talk) 03:34, June 13, 2018 (UTC)

Strong support This is an obvious one to me. NK is a long time user that is on and active on the chat. He also shows to have a strong grasp of the guidelines as he has no recent infractions as far as I know of. He's a person I'm glad to have met and I think would be a great mod. • Reason for nomination: Vinyl has put forward an application in the past and it was mainly declined due to not being ready for the rights. It has now been nearly 3 months since that nomination, and I feel in that time Vinyl has taken considerable steps in the right direction. Now that we've lost many of our mods from the evaluation, I see a power vacuum during the hours Vinyl is online, which greatly needs to be filled. Of course, I'm not simply trying to fill a hole and do believe Vinyl would be able to carry out moderator actions during that time period. They are still a very active member of chat and know the rules well.

Oppose - I feel the same way as I did in the previous nomination. I do not feel Vinyl is ready, throwing someone into a role they aren't ready for isn't a good idea - even if we are short on staff at those hours. It's better to go into a role you're ready for and be fully prepared. People didn't oppose the last nomination due to lack of activity as you have described it, they mostly declined as they feel they aren't ready to conduct themselves as a moderator yet. I do agree that Vinyl is going in the right direction and I definitely have noticed an improvement but I still feel now isn't the time. 343TheGuiltyProphet - Talk 18:37, June 12, 2018 (UTC)

Comment Hey there 343. I appreciate all your feedback you give me towards my nomination.This gives me a chance to better myself towards the wikia and it's community. I've been with the wikia for just about 8 months so far and hopefully continue my time with the Fandom further on as we go. I understand that we're low on Moderator's and I feel that I would make a good addition to the team. If you feel now is not a good time then I will keep that under consideration. I've had experience with being a Chat Moderator before in other communities and Im well aware of the responsibilities that they come with. Also to add on to Vinyl's comment. We need to remember we have the 3 month trial period as well. We aren't throwing them straight to the lions. If after 3 months it's clear the user can't handle the rights they can easily be revoked. Furthermore, we can use this time to help train said user if we feel they're doing anything wrong. As Dove states above; "Isn't allowing the nominee to learn the ropes the whole point of the Trial Mod role".

Weak oppose Despite being a friend of Vinny's, I cannot be supportive just yet even though we have a lack of mods. She's a tad explosive at times, and yesterday she got into an argument with a user who didn't think she would make a good moderator. She's a good user through and through but I think she needs to mellow out a little before I'll fully support her. While they ultimately resolved the tension, it's a little too early to make this user a moderator. I'll also state for the record we have 4 active mods (counting Smith when he returns) plus three Operators which do the same job as mod and around 6 admins who frequent the chat. I don't think we're hurting for staff. No offense, Vinny. Edit: I want to make something perfectly clear. I am not blaming Vinyl for this, in fact had she taken the argument to a DM, I would support her. I was there at that time. She didn't argue back. She did respond to it when she was aware what was going on, but hardly actually said anything to them. Furthermore, I'm not sure if you're around at the time period I'm talking about, but we certainly do not have 4 mods available. We only have myself, and that's late at night for me so I can't be on for long during that period.

I was a mod on at that time period before I retired, and if someone is willing to put me forward if this doesn't work out, I'd be happy to request a second chance in order to get good at using the bot. Thought I'd say Crim that I've noticed with a couple of forums that when people seem to disagree with your opinion, you very quickly change your mind and follow the crowd. I just wanted to say you dont need to do this. If you truly want to change your opinion than that's fair enough - but don't change it to keep people sweet. You really don't need to. Comment I understand, I just feel Vinyl despite a few hiccups here and there would be a good addition to the team. After all, she's been a mod on several other chats besides this one, and I know she can do well from those chats. I'd like to make one thing perfectly clear, I am not agreeing with the majority because I feel pressured to. I just thought it over and thought the good outweighed the bad, is all. If someone is proposed that I honestly don't agree with, I'll voice my opinion whether it's against the majority or not. Support I believe Vinyl would be a good addition to the team. She's been on for long enough, she has a good dispositon and she seems willing enough to lend her hand in helping keep the chat safe. Comment I'd like to point out that Discord Operators also count as moderators and if these two are accepted, it would lead to 6 active mods and 3 operators. I don't think we'll be hurting for a while after this tbh. Unless something happens to one of the current staff. • Hey all! I'm Thundermare, also known as T-Marey, Rubin and currently going by tōru. A month ago I resigned from being a moderator due to personal real life issues after being inactive for a while and now I finally feel like I'm ready to be part of the community again and serve and help it grow into a better place for everyone. I've had my fair amount of bumps and faults like any other human being does, but I believe I can do all being a mod demands as I always have which is why I'm nominating myself as a moderator for a second time since I missed the moderator evaluation. Thank you all for reading.

As a fairly important comment Comment , since this is a slightly different situation than a fresh nomination and because I've only recently resigned from the position and was a moderator for almost two years before, do I go through a trial moderatorship period as well? Do you all believe that this is mandatory or can it be skipped in this case?

Strong support I've known Thundy from pretty much the time they joined the wiki. Thundy is a caring and friendly person who looks out for others and would only want the best for the wiki. Thunder has been an active moderator for around 2 years, before resigning recently due to irl. I don't see why they can't pickup their rights again. Strong support I honestly cannot think of any reason to not give Thunder mod rights. She had them when I first joined and only showed the correct aptitude for using said rights.

Strong support No reason to not give her rights back. Only reason this nom is necessary is due to the passing of the mod eval, but I have no doubt she would've passed it with flying colors. Strong support Barely noticed you were gone. You've been a mod about the same period of time as me and have plenty of experience with Discord, so I'd even recommend you for Op, considering you programmed FlutterBot from the ground up. Provided you want to that is. Regardless, I can think of no reason why not to give your rights back in terms of your record. I'd say skip the trial period too, as you already ran your own server among other things and know how to use the bot. Comment I forgot to add that i too, would like to see the Trial period for Thunder skipped. Why put someone that we know does their job exceptionally well thru the trial phase?

Strong support To both Thundy getting her rights back, as well as skipping the trial mod phase (since I feel this should serve more just as her participation in the mod evaluation forum, rather than a de novo request for rights).
