TheRequiemEmpire(talkcontributionsblock loglogsrights)

Hello my friends,

I hope you're all well and you had a great new year and have enjoyed the holidays/new years celebrations. I wanted to (as best as I can) humbly put myself forward for the role of bureaucrat. I feel I'd make a good bureaucrat because I feel that I've shown unquestionable dedication and commitment to the community and I feel I've shown great initiative in pointing the Wiki in the right direction to encourage user interaction and trying to find a way to get more users to stay.

I also feel I'd make good use of the rights because if this renewal goes well and we get more editors (yay) then we'd naturally have more nominees for rights. At the moment, we only have Imperfect and Jonny Manz after loosing two other bureaucrats and I feel it'd be nice to have a third admin able to add and remove the same level of user access rights.

I know I'm not perfect, I completely understand that - but I really do care about this place. I've been here for 7 years now and still to this day want to keep it going.

What do we say folks?

Symbol support vote Support 343/Requiem is one of the more active admins on the Wiki at the moment and has not only been diligent in keeping articles spam/vandalism-free but is also passionate about improving the Wiki's overall community experience. Symbol support vote Support As Imperfect said, 343 has been active on the wiki for a long time and always trying to improve the experience for everyone, as well as build the community and keep it civil. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 04:27, January 13, 2019 (UTC)

Symbol support vote Support You're not a Bureaucrat yet? Yes, a thousand times over. 343 has shown to be one of the most compassionate, understanding admins of the wiki. As for the mistakes, they're extremy minute and he always bounces back. He's more of less the server creator and usually very active there. He tries to improve the experience for everyone and he is genuinely a nice guy. Go for it! You have my vote.  Crimson "Valent" Azure talk   http://i.imgur.com/Rarwx7r.png   05:11, January 13, 2019 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment I don't about "very active" with Disocrd in mind with the exception of the last week you'd get a few messages every few days.

Pictogram voting comment Comment He's not the server creator either, not that it means anything either way. http://i.imgur.com/DgihKkh.gifThundermare  (Talk page)http://i.imgur.com/uFz3Sbv.gif 07:40, January 13, 2019 (UTC)

Symbol oppose vote Oppose with all due respect, I have my own reasons to oppose this, so bear with me as I explain them. Normally I don't get involved in these requests and things that normally do not affect my own areas of interest, but being a bureaucrat does, and it affects quite a lot of things. I for one don't see it as a milestone achievement or something that one should have due to a lack of it, or anything else. It is a position of power that I personally think not everyone needs, neither does everyone qualify for it. There are multiple factors that I'd personally consider, and while I don't see a need to explain them with this amount of detail, I'll still try my best to explain my rationale as this is, in fact, important to me and probably anyone who cares about the wiki in the first place.

As the first and perhaps most important fact, we have edits and activity, and quite frankly, I don't see much of either whether on the chat or the wiki itself aside from the current boost in activity which has been going on for about the duration of January. Now I understand that there are such things as being busy and having real life issues to deal with and being available whenever messaged and such, but at the same time, I've seen multiple long term hiatuses coming from you, and in some cases even a disconnection stemming from said lack of activity. While I appreciate the current efforts you've been taking recently, I feel like some are even things that have already been proposed before and rejected or left alone for various reasons which go back to my first point of disconnection.

As my second point, I'd like to talk about behaviour. While 343, Requiem or Jake, whichever you'd like to call him does his best to always be calm, understanding and level headed, the issue arises for the few times I've seen him fail to do so, and there are times when I'm personally concerned about it. This is the part where the chat experience comes up, as it tends to be where you'd see such things where there are no well written long letters and messages. But personally, I've been concerned about some of the dramatisation and distrust I've seen, in one case leading to an admin accusing another admin of possible gross misconduct out of almost thin air in a state of panic and going through drastic measures for something which normally wouldn't be as massive of an issue. There's also the effects of a recent event related to Wikia which left quite a bit of impact on him which could be felt constantly and almost left me concerned with it as perhaps his reaction was much more emotional than expected. There's also one last matter which is the frustration about being an admin which also shows itself sometimes at least on the chat, whether in 'joke' form, mentioning everyone waiting until they can start a demotion forum for enabling a disabled feature out of nowhere or unironically, saying that the life of admin is being doomed if you do and being doomed if you don't which while understandable in a harsh situation, raises my third and last concern.

This may only have one effect and that's putting even more of a spotlight on you and you, Jake, do you think you're ready for the responsibility that comes with it? Because there are often many and many people who may disagree with what you'd think or outright dislike your methods for their own reason. Do you think you can deal with them well enough? This forum began with controversy and trolling, although while I think trolling itself doesn't mean anything but trolling, it's coming from people who'd otherwise do nothing and people who may have had an issue with how you've done things in the past and present. Do you think you're ready to try and stay calm about it, and is it worth an extra tag to possibly go under even more pressure to do a few more things? Because personally, the only right I'd say matters even more than bureaucrat to me is check user, which also happened to be the last thing you nominated yourself for. I myself see these as huge responsibilities and things that some would hardly accept without thinking properly, let alone requesting to have it. So I hope you're ready to accept any sort of criticism that might come because of something you'd do and the concerns it may raise, of course, if a valid criticism. I personally feel like you might need even more time and activity around to consider it and for me to clearly tell if I can support or not, but until then, I can't see you being ready and active enough for it despite all the experience and time around. http://i.imgur.com/DgihKkh.gifThundermare  (Talk page)http://i.imgur.com/uFz3Sbv.gif 09:37, January 13, 2019 (UTC)

Hey thundermare. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on my forum. Some of the things you’ve mentioned I feel the need to reply to. So, when it comes to the whole “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” this is not me hating my position. It’s a true fact about being in a position of responsibility anywhere in life. Sometimes, in situations - it’s unavoidable. We see it a lot in real life situations. Now, I’m not a trump supporter but for the sake of showing what I mean. Trump would be condemned for building the wall but he’d also be condemned for not building a wall. Because if he didn’t, he wouldn’t furfil his election promise and if he did, majority of Americans don’t agree with it. (According to the latest poll). I certainly do feel I’m ready for the extra responsibility but I’d also like to say that every situation you have referred to has been on Discord. Being a bureaucrat has no affect in Discord. At all. Bureaucrat is something for the Wiki. These concerns you have, never have happened on the wiki itself. I have flaws and I’d never dare to try and say I’m perfect but I’m always trying to better myself so I can be the best I can be. Becoming a bureaucrat doesn’t give me checkuser rights and I won’t be applying for that in future. It seems our community no longer has a need for that tool. In terms of the trolling, I only blocked one of those accounts and that’s because they randomly joined and defaced the forums. I refused to block the other accounts, despite being told by people I could. Reason being is I didn’t want to come across as someone who couldn’t handle something like that. They were later blocked by a fellow admin for indefinite. I’m sorry you feel you cannot support me at the moment thunder. I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to express your views and I hope in the future, I can impress you enough that you have no reservations. Kind regards,  343TheGuiltyProphet - Contact

I know that it does not concern the Discord at all, and the only reason I'm leaving feedback on here as well is the fact that I at least once was a contributor myself. But the fact is, are you a different person on Discord to the wiki? I'm aware of the fact that things work differently, and much more civilised, which is why I brought up the first point and perhaps part of the third. I appreciate your calm and concern and your appreciation for the wiki and your will to make it better, and I understand the fact that sometimes under pressure things may happen. However, there are often concerns and complaints about this and I decided to have a say on this on behalf of many others who for whatever reasons decided not to raise theirs or at least not yet do so. It doesn't directly affect the Discord, but it affects the wiki as a whole which is why I brought up experiences and questions from both. http://i.imgur.com/DgihKkh.gifThundermare  (Talk page)http://i.imgur.com/uFz3Sbv.gif 10:11, January 13, 2019 (UTC)
