Return to My Little Pony: Nightmare Knights

So I'm going off the assumption that the threat to Equestria in this series could be the alternate version of the Pony of Shadows previously seen in the Legends of Magic Annual 2018 comic. My reasons for this are as follows:

  • The Pony of Shadows swore he would find Stygian again following his defeat in the issue, and I doubt he would renege on that simply because he discovered Stygian is another version of himself.
  • The main cover seems to show a magical, interdimensional mirror, and the Pony of Shadows is really the only pre-introduced interdimensional threat I could see returning. That is, unless they were to introduce Nightmare Star into the comics canon or address the Reflections arc again, neither of which seems particularly likely.
  • Said mirror from said cover is decorated at the top with an eight-pointed star, and Stygian features a similar-though admittedly not identical-ornament as a cloak claps on the same cover. This certainly seems to hint at a connection.

I would also hazard a guess that since not just one, but both covers seem to have a Las Vegas Pegasus vibe going on, if we might not see some interaction between Trixie and her dad Jack Pot. It would certainly be interesting, and there are a few more character interactions around the main characters of this arc that I think would be cool to see in the series:

  • Tempest Shadow and Spring Rain: Tempest's Tale saw the reunion and reconciliation of Tempest with her former friend Glitter Drops. It would thus make sense-and be interesting-to see her run into the last member of her childhood trio, Spring Rain. Will s/he (there's been differing sources) want to make up and apologize for the Ursa Minor incident as well? Or does Spring Rain have another view on who's fault that whole mess was?
  • Capper and Chummer: Given how these guys parted, it would be interesting to see them meet up again now that Capper's learned about the "magic of friendship" from his pony pals. Of course, this can only happen if Chummer survived the crash of the airship he was on with the Misfortune Malachite; it was pretty ambiguous, though I am leaning towards not at this point.
  • Stygian and Shadow Lock: Been hoping for something like this pretty much since Shadow Play - Part 2. It would be particularly interesting to see Shadow Lock reacting to the presence of both his redeemed ancestor and the non-redeemed alternate version.

Honestly can't think of anything along the same lines for Luna-sure, the alternate Pony of Shadows tried to turn her into Nightmare Moon in the first place, but so far as we know she wasn't aware he was the responsible party.--Kilmarnock228 (talk) 08:39, July 31, 2018 (UTC)--Kilmarnock228 (talk) 08:50, July 31, 2018 (UTC)
