- Neither acknowledges the other, which given Pinkie's rather... unusual demeanor would seem to imply that they have never met. Besides, the coat and mane are slightly different in color, and even then, similar palette does not mean same pony. Shiningdark 04:16, January 2, 2012 (UTC)

- I agree with Mattwo, Pinkie's sister is a greyer grey than Octavia
- Spontaneous color saturation/desaturation as well as mane and coat dyeing are canon in the show. It is entirely possible that Octavia gained some contrast leaving the rock farm.

Pinkie knows (and is friends with) everypony in Ponyville. Aren't Tavi and Vinyl "housemates" in Ponyville? Or is that just fannon? There was that time Pinkie pulled Vinyl out of her "pocket" and she seemed to be just fine with that and just proceeded to play. Instrument[]
- Fans have argued many, many times over what instrument Octavia is truly playing. The majority of the fans speculate with one of the show creator, who said it was a cello, because a cello is typically seen as a more formal instrument, and because the double bass can not be bowed. This is a falsehood however because a double bass is also commonly used in formal occasions, and can in fact be bowed when playing classical music.. --- Fox85 4:41, May 14, 2012 (EST)
- It is possible that the instrument in question is a combination of both a Cello and a Double Bass.
- It is definitely a cello. A double bass has more vertical shoulders compared to a cello.

- The comic featuring the backstory of Sunset Shimmer and the human world (the one the pic of Octavia's human form is from) shows Octavia as a member of a "jazz" band; plucked basses are common in jazz bands, while cellos... Not so much (or really ever).
- Octavia may be a multi-intrumentalist. IRL, professional musicials often learn several instruments, and most can play the piano to a degree. The skills and muscle memory used to play the cello and bass are quite similar
- A cello has pegs to the sides of the peg box to tighten the strings similar to a violin. A bass has a gear operated tensioner that has the tuning keys sticking out to the rear of the peg box. Octavia's instrument has side mounted pegs the same as a cello. The size of her instrument makes it appear to be a bass. At comic con, It has been hinted that she might be in a song number with Rarity. Cathy Weseluck is most likely too be her voice actor.
