Looks like we got the notice about our wiki being migrated to the Unified Community Platform soon. I'm making this topic as a central place to report any issues that come up when the move does eventually happen (specific time unknown). If urgent coding fixes are needed, please leave a message on my talk page or ping me in Discord. See this Wikia blog post for more information.
It's possible the MediaWiki API will change slightly, and several custom scripts use that, so it's more likely that there will be issues with page behavior rather than content. There may also be CSS issues due to code changes, causing things to look odd. I've also read that the UCP doesn't support wikitext in comments, though there seems to be a new way to do common formatting. I don't know what migrated comments will look like, but we have too many to bother trying to correct anything. We should also keep an eye on polls, blogs, and achievements, which are the other custom Wikia features we have enabled.
Hopefully this will turn out to be a positive change sooner rather than later. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 23:38, August 16, 2020 (UTC)
Are you going to disable comments for pages or not? Or you will do something else? Gurte(Talk) 09:13, August 17, 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think we'll need to change anything about comments, they'll still be enabled after the migration as long as the system works. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 01:41, August 18, 2020 (UTC)
Comment - I have a fair bit of experience on the new platform - if anyone has any questions or would like help when it arrives, please feel free to ask me.

Update - UCP migration has been paused, perhaps until October. More information here: link --

- Thanks for the link. Judging by some of the comments on that post with bugs etc, that's a very good thing. I'm on board with the changes they need to make and updating the software being easier, but it doesn't seem ready for release yet. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 21:39, August 31, 2020 (UTC)
The migration is unpaused. So what are we going to do? Gurte(Talk) 18:40, September 25, 2020 (UTC)
- Wait and see how it goes and fix anything we need to, I think. Unless anyone here has experience with wikis that have already been migrated and knows some things we should watch out for. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 08:07, September 26, 2020 (UTC)
I've been reading some feedback on UCP, especially now the MLP Fan Labor Wiki has been migrated, and these are some common complaints/bugs I've seen mentioned:
- User pages sometimes lose some functionality (to what extent, I'm not sure, it might just be a custom coding issue).
- Format of gallery pages sometimes break (again, not sure to what extent, and I haven't seen any broken format myself).
- Talk pages notifications do not work.
- There's no Special:WikiActivity page. (This is particularly troublesome.) Instead, Special:RecentChanges and Special:NewFiles are merged into a single tabbed page with a "Special:SocialActivity" tab monitoring comments and such.
- Issues with the WikiEditor include a small editing window and auto-complete for wikilinks not working.

I'll be using this forum post to catalog other bugs/issues with the new Wiki platform.
- Some custom Wiki signatures don't work.
- Some special Wiki pages are gone, including Special:WikiActivity, Special:MultipleUpload, and Special:Following.
- "Add new topic" button in the forums and "Create a new Workshop page" button in the Workshop don't work.
- Some gallery pages are showing broken format, such as Rarity/Gallery.
- Notification features like talk pages and MediaWiki:Community-corner are non-functioning/have limited function.
Feel free to add more that aren't covered. 03:40, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
