Forums: Index > Wiki discussion > Username policy

After an off-wiki chat, I found out that a few people wouldn’t be against an username policy. This will mean that users now actually know what is not allowed and may cause less issues for sysops in the future, like a safety measurement against people who will push the limits and say that their block is unwarranted because they don’t know what “unacceptable” is. The things that happened in March this earlier year show that any small mistake could result in a punishment. For this reason, I would like you guys to make suggestions rather than immediately opposing it.

Policy made collapsible only for this page for better readability. ~StyyxTalk? ^-^ 18:16, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Proposed username policy

This is a policy that describes unacceptable usernames on the My Little Pony Wiki.

Unacceptable usernames

Unacceptable usernames are, but not limited to, the following:

Disruptive and offensive usernames

  1. Usernames that are likely to offend other editors, such as containing profanities.
  2. Usernames that contain personal attacks.
  3. Usernames that show a clear intent to disrupt the My Little Pony Wiki.

Misleading usernames

  1. Usernames that impersonate other people.
  2. Usernames that give the impression an account has permissions and/or rights which it does not have.

Promotional usernames

  1. Usernames that intend to promote any person, group, company, product or website.

Blocking

Any violation will immediately result in an indefinite block, which means that you will not be able to contribute to the My Little Pony Wiki until you change your username using the User Rename Tool.

If you are the person enforcing the block, you must leave a message on the talk page of the user about the block reason and leave a link to the User Rename Tool.

If the new username does not violate the policy, then the user can be unblocked.
