My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #92, also titled Season 10 Episode 4 and The Farasian Shores - Part 4[1] and titled Zecora Returns Home - Part 4 in trade paperback, is the ninety-second issue of IDW Publishing's Friendship is Magic comic series. It is the fourth installment of the comics' "Season 10", taking place after the series' season nine, and the final part of a four-part story arc. In the issue, Zecora, Applejack, and their friends discover a second Tree of Harmony in the Farasian desert and confront the monstrous Grootslang.
A follow up to the arc, "Casobronco", was included in Gameloft's mobile game.
Summary[]
At the Farasian desert temple, Tempest Shadow and Rockhoof fight off the attacking Grootslang outside while Zecora, Applejack, and Zecora's friends behold a second Tree of Harmony inside. Zecora and Applejack theorize this Tree has its own set of Elements of Harmony, but there are no Elements to be found. The group explores the temple interior and find a dried-up well and bath, wall drawings, and a depiction of the temple with a panel of five lights (only one light is lit).
As Applejack leaves to help Tempest and Rockhoof battle the Grootslang, Zecora tells Marini she hears a voice coming from the Tree of Harmony compelling her to approach. When the temple shakes due to the battle outside, Zecora stumbles and hits her head on the Tree, knocking her unconscious. In her dreams, she meets the spirit of the Tree of Harmony, who recognizes the friendship-related hardships Zecora faced throughout her life and telling her she found "the greatest magic of all" as a result of those hardships. The spirit adds that friendship does not serve any one type of pony and that any creature, pony or otherwise, who wishes to use the Elements of Harmony must simply look to their friends.
Zecora regains consciousness, and a floor panel lights up underneath Cactus Rose. When Applejack returns, she and Zecora notice the same panel does not light up when Marini steps on it and realize the Elements are near. Other floor panels light up when rest of Zecora's friends stand on them: generosity for Cactus Rose, honesty for Marini, kindness for Dust Devil, laughter for Medley Brook, loyalty for Crystal, and magic for Zecora. The Elements of Harmony appear from underneath the Tree and fly toward their respective wielders, giving them golden jeweled necklaces.
The Grootslang smashes through the temple walls, and Zecora tries to reason with the beast to reach a peaceful solution. When it refuses, Zecora and her friends use the Elements of Harmony to destroy it.
In the aftermath (narrated via letter from Applejack to Twilight Sparkle), water and greenery start to return to Farasi, and Prince Abraxas thanks Applejack and her friends for helping to restore his home and sees her off with an abundance of gifts. While Applejack, Tempest, and Rockhoof return to Equestria, Zecora stays behind to catch up with her friends and study the desert temple more thoroughly. She notices on the display of five lights, two of the lights are now lit instead of one.
Elsewhere, in a library with a similar display, an off-screen character notices the second light turn on and goes to inform "the commander" of this development.
Quotes[]
- Rockhoof: It's been nice havin' friends and all, but I've always believed the true Rockhoof was a warrior. This is where I belong. On the battlefield.
- Tempest Shadow: Rockhoof, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
- Applejack: I'm gonna take a wild guess that you didn't know this was here.
- Zecora: I... Things are not as... No, Applejack. I did not.
- Zecora: Marini, friend, I have a query. Do you not hear the voice from this tree?
- Marini: Kid... Zecora... I don't hear anything.
- Tree of Harmony: Know this, Zecora--unicorns may have horns to channel magic, and you may need ingredients for potions, but friendship is not a magic that serves any one type of pony. Every friendship is different. Friendship exists in every land. The Elements of Harmony are not tied only to six ponies in one particular land.
- Applejack: There's six platforms! Do you know what this means?!
- Zecora: The Elements of Harmony!
- Marini: Y'all, I can't lie, that's gotta be me. I always tell it how it is.
- Applejack: I knew I liked you, Marini.
- Zecora: I've worked my whole life to have it... And it's my element... I'm magic.
- Zecora: Grootslang! We do not wish to destroy you, but my friends and I will defend our home. We ask that you help us find a peaceful option, but if you refuse--
- Grootslang: HIISSSSS
- Zecora: Very well.
- Unknown Character: It can't be! It's been thousands of years! I have to tell the commander! Commander! The desert temple has been activated!
