My Little Pony: Maretime Mysteries #1 is the first issue of IDW Publishing's My Little Pony: Maretime Mysteries comic miniseries. In this issue, Misty discovers an old board game inspired by real-life Maretime Bay mysteries and accidentally releases an evil spirit.
Summary[]
On a day when all of her friends are busy with their own activities, Misty hangs around the Crystal Brighthouse with nothing to do. Her father Alphabittle calls, and over a virtual game of checkers, she confides him that she is still struggling to find her place in Maretime Bay. Alphabittle assures Misty that she will find her place but that accomplishing this will take time. He asks Misty to pick up some tea blends for him from a new tea shop in Maretime Bay called Brewtanical Wonders.
Despite some directions given to her by local ponies, Misty has a hard time finding Brewtanical Wonders. In her search, she accidentally wanders into an antiques shop and becomes enamored with the various items on display. One of the items is an old board game called "Maretime Mysteries", which the shop owner explains is based on real-life mysteries and legends of Maretime Bay. Wanting to learn more about the town, Misty purchases the board game before finally finding her way to Brewtanical Wonders.
Back at the Crystal Brighthouse, after calling Alphabittle to let him know what she found, Misty is joined by Sunny Starscout, Hitch Trailblazer, and Sparky Sparkeroni, who has come down with a case of magical hiccups. As Misty brews some tea for Sparky's hiccups, Sunny notices the new board game Misty bought and expresses an interest in playing. Misty sets up the board game for herself, Sunny, Hitch, and Sparky to play. However, as soon as she rolls the dice for the first time, an evil spirit emerges from the dice. He tells the ponies that, by starting this game, they have unleashed a curse upon Maretime Bay and that the only way to save the town is by winning the game.
