Full name Molly Meghan McCarthy

Occupation Writer, story editor, producer

Meghan McCarthy is a co-executive producer, screenwriter, and lyricist for My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. She is credited as story editor for seasons three, four, and the second half of season five. She has also written and helped produce My Little Pony Equestria Girls and its 2014 sequel. McCarthy is also one of the writers and co-producers for My Little Pony The Movie.

In 2010, McCarthy was invited by Lauren Faust, co-creator and producer for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, to write for Hasbro's recent revival of its My Little Pony franchise. McCarthy, on a creative hiatus at the time and "trying to figure out which direction to steer [her] writing career," accepted due to Faust's dedication to the project.[1]

In 2011, after Faust departed from the show following the season two premiere,[2] McCarthy was promoted to co-executive producer for season three onward, during which she also served as story editor.[3]

In June 2015, Hasbro promoted McCarthy as the company's new head of storytelling for its My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop brands.[4]

McCarthy's professional credits include being head writer for Cartoon Network's Class of 3000 and writer for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and the Disney Channel original series Fish Hooks. She has also been nominated for "Outstanding Original Song - Children's and Animation" for Becoming Popular (The Pony Everypony Should Know) at the 39th Daytime Emmy Awards[5] and featured in Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony.

Quotes[]

"I don't think I'd want to reform all of our villains. I don't think that would be realistic. No matter how hard you try, some people (or evil alicorns) just aren't going to change their ways."
My Little Pony: The Elements of Harmony page 54
"As I was working on "MY LITTLE PONY", I kept reforming all the villains, much to some people's dismay, who like to keep their villains mean. That just kept sort of showing up in my work. It's just my world view that no one's bad, they're just broken. And if you can figure out how to fix them, then things will be okay."
