Mistmane is a female unicorn and legendary figure in Equestria who is first mentioned in The Crystalling - Part 2, and debuted in Issue #3 of My Little Pony: Legends of Magic as one of the comic's central characters. She made her first in-show appearance in Campfire Tales.
Depiction in the series
Mistmane is first alluded to by Sunburst in The Crystalling - Part 2, her name attached to the spell "Mistmane's Material Amity".
Mistmane appears in Campfire Tales in a story told by Rarity, who calls it her favorite legend. Mistmane, a kind and talented sorceress renowned for her beauty, inadvertently incurs the jealousy of her friend Sable Spirit, who forcibly takes over their old village after a backfired beauty spell makes her old and hideous instead. Horrified by her friend's cruelty and the suffering of her subjects, Mistmane challenges and defeats Sable in a magical duel. Still believing more can be done for her friend, Mistmane casts a spell that restores Sable and the village's beauty at the cost of her own. From then on, Mistmane travels Equestria to spread beauty and perform small acts of kindness across the land.
