My Little Pony: Mane Event is a special-edition Generation 5 comic released by IDW Publishing. It is a collection of three stories that are all themed around hair.
Summary[]
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow[]
At the Mane Melody salon, Pipp Petals has agreed to look after Sparky Sparkeroni for Hitch Trailblazer for the afternoon. That same day, Pipp receives a shipment of samples for her new line of beauty products. However, the contents of the package have gotten mixed up during shipping, so Pipp suggests that she and Sparky have a spa day testing each product to see what they do.
Pipp treats Sparky with what she believes is mane moisturizer, but it turns out to be hair growth formula, causing Sparky to grow long red locks of hair. Desperate to fix this before Hitch returns, Pipp goes through every product in her box, but all they do is make Sparky's new hair shinier and curlier. Sparky gives Pipp the instructions for the hair growth formula, and she discovers that the formula washes out with water, much to her relief.
A short time later, Hitch returns to pick up Sparky, unaware of the hijinks that occurred while he was away. As Hitch and Sparky leave together, Sparky secretly makes off with some more of the hair growth formula.
Hair Cut for Time[]
Zipp Storm goes to pick up Hitch at his apartment for their planned outing to see a movie. When Hitch comes out of the bathroom after making sure his mane is just right, he and Zipp disagree on which of their morning mane-care routines is better. Zipp spends only a few minutes each morning getting ready for the day and putting mousse in her mane to give it its distinctive style, giving her more time to sleep in. Hitch, on the other hand, enjoys spending the extra time each morning styling his mane just how he likes it.
Suddenly, Misty speeds past Zipp and Hitch in an out-of-control bouncing ball. They race to save Misty, who explains she got carried away practicing her magic spells. Due to their efforts in saving Misty, Zipp and Hitch's manes have becomes blown back and messy. However, they like these new looks and decide to switch up their morning mane-care routines every once in a while.
Izzy's Wash Day[]
After constructing a new spinning snack tray, Izzy Moonbow, with her imaginary companion Señor Butterscotch, decides to have an at-home mane-washing day. She shakes loose art supplies out of her mane, detangles her mane and tail with a comb, washes with shampoo, treats with a homemade hair mask, blow-dries, uses a leave-in conditioner, and experiments with multiple different hairstyles before finally settling on her signature look.
When Pipp returns home from a long day at Mane Melody, she compliments Izzy on her mane, and Izzy offers to give Pipp the same wash-day treatment she just gave herself.
