My Little Pony #13, titled Maretime Bay Beachside Bake-Off in trade paperback, is the thirteenth issue of IDW Publishing's My Little Pony comic series, based on the Generation 5 film My Little Pony: A New Generation. In this issue, the Mane 5 enter a baking competition, but they are unable to agree on what to bake.

Summary[]

The Mane 5 are entering together in the annual Maretime Bay Beachside Bake-Off baking competition, the first one held since the three pony races reunited. Sunny Starscout is particularly excited, expecting the presence of unicorns and Pegasi in a traditionally Earth pony-exclusive competition will bring a much wider variety of baking recipes.

The announcer announces this year's competition theme to be "Baked With Love", and the ponies start brainstorming ideas on what to bake. Sunny suggests making her father Argyle Starshine's special jam-filled hoofprint cookies. Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm suggest making cloud beignets that they used to make with their mother Queen Haven. Finally, Izzy Moonbow suggests making dragon pepper brownies that she used to make. Unfortunately, due to either a lack of necessary ingredients or a lack of available baking time, none of the ponies' suggested recipes are viable options.

Sunny proposes they bake cookies using one ingredient that each of them likes, and the others agree. Before time runs out, the Mane 5 have made cookies with Izzy's sprinkles, Hitch Trailblazer's oats, Pipp's chocolate, Zipp's peanut butter, and Sunny's raisins. They present their "friendship cookies" to the judges, and they are met with mild reception. Eventually, Dahlia is declared the winner. Though the Mane 5 did not win the Bake-Off, they are glad to have made something that represents the best of each of them. The issue ends with the ponies having a picnic and enjoying the treats that they suggested earlier.

Quotes[]

Sunny Starscout: Win or lose, I'm just glad to get to bake with you all.
Pipp Petals: I wonder what the theme will be. Maybe "Show Your Sparkle."
Zipp Storm: Or "Unity."
Izzy Moonbow: I hope it's "Cupcakes."
Announcer Pony: This year's theme is... Baked With Love!
Zipp Storm: You're a unicorn. Maybe a rabbit?
Queen Haven: Are you some sort of bird, dear?
Pipp Petals: I'm supposed to be an Alicorn.
Pipp Petals: I don't think peppers and chocolate really go together.
Izzy Moonbow: That's just it. No one would think to put them together because they're so different, but they balance each other perfectly. Just like us.
Izzy Moonbow: A brand-new recipe. I love it!
Zipp Storm: We could call them "friendship cookies"!
Pipp Petals: We can workshop that brand later.
Judge Pony 1: There are way too many flavors happening here.
Judge Pony 2: It's not bad, but the recipe needs some tweaking.
Judge Pony 3: I think it's delicious.
Sunny Starscout: Thank you, ponies, for helping me.
Izzy Moonbow: Those judges don't know what they're missing.
Hitch Trailblazer: Next year, we've got this.
