My Little Pony #17 is the seventeenth issue of IDW Publishing's My Little Pony comic series, based on the Generation 5 film My Little Pony: A New Generation. In this issue, Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm find their entire lives are swapped, and they recruit the rest of their friends to help track down the creature responsible for the switch.

Summary[]

Picking up where the previous issue left off, Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm summon their friends and explain that their lives have been switched, which they demonstrate when Zipp fails to dance as gracefully as Pipp. When asked how this happened, Pipp confesses about her encounter with the wish-granting nymph Milkyway the previous day. Though Pipp says she did not make any wishes to Milkyway, her desire for Zipp to respect what she does as a performer was virtually the same as a wish.

Over the next several hours, the Mane 5 search for Milkyway so that she can undo the switch, but they are unable to find her or draw her out of hiding. When Pipp urges Zipp to post a social media message for her fans, the two start to argue again. Sunny Starscout, having done research on nymphs, believes Milkyway will stay close by to monitor Pipp and Zipp to make sure the wish she granted is fulfilled; sure enough, Milkyway magically appears to watch Pipp and Zipp argue.

Sunny, Izzy Moonbow, and Hitch Trailblazer confront Milkyway and demand that she undo Pipp and Zipp's switch. Milkyway explains she cannot break a wish until it comes true, and the only way for Pipp's wish to come true is if Zipp learns to understand and appreciate her pressures as a pop star and influencer. When Milkyway starts to leave, Pipp and Zipp try to stop her, but she escapes.

Some time later, Pipp and Zipp continue to argue and blame each other for their current predicament. Zipp believes the best way to get through this is to live each other's lives until they find a way to get back to normal. Pipp laughs at this idea, suggesting Zipp could never handle the pressures of being an influential pop star. Zipp counters by suggesting Pipp could never handle the responsibility of hosting the royal dinner. They each accept their respective challenge to prove the other wrong.

Quotes[]

Sunny Starscout: So what you're saying is all those times we watched Zipp perform onstage... that was actually you performing?
Pipp Petals: Yes!
Izzy Moonbow: Do Zipp's moves... How do I say this nicely? Wonky? Sideways? Backward? A bit upside down-y?
Zipp Storm: Hey!
Glory: Zipp!
Seashell: Zipp!
Peach Fizz: Zipp, over here!
Zipp Storm: You know who seems to love my wonky moves? My dedicated fans.
Izzy Moonbow: Zipp's and Pipp's cutie marks were switched, and now we can't remember who each of them were B.C.S. That stands for "Before Cutie Mark Switcheroo!"
Pipp Petals: I made sure I didn't wish for anything!
Zipp Storm: You wanted me to understand. Wanting and wishing are the same thing!
Pipp Petals: No! They are two compleeeeetely different words!
Izzy Moonbow: Hello, Milkyway. I wish you would switch my friends' cutie marks back. Pretty please with five hundred chocolate cherries on top.
[pause]
Zipp Storm: That was anticlimactic.
Pipp Petals: My fans need to know I'm okay. That you're okay.
Zipp Storm: This is ridiculous.
Pipp Petals: There it is again. You thinking everything I do is ridiculous.
Sunny Starscout: This section on wishing well nymphs explains they're competitive and spend their whole lives trying to grant more wishes than their family members.
Sunny Starscout: We need to find a way to take Milkyway by surprise.
Milkyway: Whatever the three of you are going to do, could you do it quickly?
Pipp Petals: I specifically made sure not to wish for anything.
Milkyway: You said you wanted your sister to understand, and that's practically the same thing as wishing.
Zipp Storm: Told you.
Pipp Petals: They are two completely different words!
Milkyway: Oh, this wish is gonna be one for the history books.
Zipp Storm: This is all your fault!
Pipp Petals: The only reason I made that wish is because you didn't show up to our rehearsal. So, technically this is all your fault.
Zipp Storm: I think we're gonna have to pretend to be each other.
Pipp Petals: It takes extraordinary charm and skill to be an influential pop star. You can't hack it. I guess we'll see.
Zipp Storm: I guess we will.
