On June 1, 2013, the official My Little Pony Japan Twitter posted that in July, the Japanese version would receive a new theme song, titled Majikaru Dai☆Dai☆Dai-Bōken! (マジカル大☆大☆大冒険!) and sung by Nanamori-chu☆Gorakubu.[2] This new opening theme is used for the Japanese version starting with Suited For Success.

On December 11, 2013, Suzuko Mimori announced on her website that there would be a third opening theme in January titled Yumemiru! Shinjiru! Mirai Kanaete! (夢見る!信じる!未来叶えて!) and that it would be sung by her.[3] This new opening theme is used for the Japanese version starting with The Last Roundup.

This new opening theme is used for the rebroadcast of the Japanese version's episodes during its "Best Selection" run, and it reused the footage used for the first opening theme in the first two episodes.

Beginning with The Cutie Pox, a different version of the theme song is used, which replaces the visuals completely, and updates the clips to be from season two. Only the visuals are changed; the song remains the same.
A slightly updated version is used beginning with Sweet and Elite. Before that point, the text used in the credits sequence is white with a black outline, but after that point, it becomes black with a white outline. The text for the next episode preview is unaffected by this; it is still white with a black outline.
