Petunia Petals is a female Earth pony and supporting character in the hour-long special My Little Pony: Rainbow Roadtrip. She is the manager of Hope Hollow's Hotel Hope (among several other positions) and, later, Mayor Sunny Skies' fiancée.

In My Little Pony: Rainbow Roadtrip, Petunia Petals first appears locking up Hotel Hope at night when she meets the Mane Six; when asked about the Rainbow Festival, she advises them to talk to Mayor Sunny Skies the next day and lets them stay the night in the hotel. The following day, she appears selling flowers at a stand, and during The End of the Rainbow, she appears in flashback interacting with Sunny Skies and attending several past Rainbow Festivals. She later appears sweeping on the street and waving to Applejack and Sunny Skies.
When Twilight Sparkle later visits the library, Petunia assists her in finding books on several subjects of magic. Later, in the hotel's "Rainbow Room", after Mayor Sunny quickly leaves to work on a speech, Petunia tells Twilight the history of the Rainbow Festival and shows her the destroyed Rainbow Generator. The two then work together to use the Generator to restore the town's color. When Petunia offers to help Sunny with his speech, he declines and quickly leaves again.

After Torque Wrench repairs the Generator, Petunia observes with Applejack and Torque Wrench as Twilight unsuccessfully tries to restore the town's color. When they learn that color has been slowly coming back on its own, Petunia and Twilight return to the library and discover, and later explain to Mayor Sunny, that the Generator breaking down had nothing to do with the town's loss of color as he had previously believed.
As the Rainbow Festival begins and Sunny fully restores the town's color by activating the Generator, he reveals that the speech he was working on was a marriage proposal to Petunia, who happily accepts. Petunia then celebrates the return of the town's color with the Mane Six and the rest of Hope Hollow during the song Living in Color, and she and Sunny bid farewell to the Mane Six as they leave in their repaired hot air balloon.

Personality[]
Like Mayor Sunny Skies, Petunia Petals is very friendly, hopeful, and optimistic, and remains so even after turning gray herself. She does her best to help others, such as by ensuring that the town is well-read as the town's librarian and by helping Twilight Sparkle with her research. Petunia is also very supportive of Sunny Skies (shown by her multiple positions in Hope Hollow and her refusal to believe he was responsible for turning the town gray) and sensitive to his feelings (shown when she keeps the broken Generator out of his sight and does not want to tell him when Twilight's initial attempts to restore the town's color fail). Because of her closeness with Mayor Sunny, Petunia sometimes blushes when talking about him.
