Posey is a female Earth pony and supporting character in My Little Pony Generation 5, first appearing as the antagonist of the hour-long special My Little Pony: Make Your Mark. She is a resident of the seaside Earth pony town of Maretime Bay who initially resents the return of magic and the union between Earth ponies, unicorns, and Pegasi.

She is called Posey Bloom in merchandise.

Posey is based on the G1 Earth pony of the same name, who also inspired the G4 Pegasus pony Fluttershy; she even shares G1 Posey's cutie mark. Her name is also similar to the G1 Earth pony Posey Rose and the G3 Earth pony Rosey Posey, and she shares her last name with the G1 Pegasus pony Brilliant Bloom, the G3 Pegasus pony Twinkle Bloom, and the G4 Earth pony filly Apple Bloom.

Depiction in Make Your Mark[]

In the hour-long special My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, Posey first appears when Izzy Moonbow crashes through her garden. Following the return of magic to Equestria at the end of My Little Pony: A New Generation, Posey considers its return to be a bad thing, claiming Pegasi's flight and unicorns' telekinesis are an inconvenience to Earth ponies' everyday lives; she is especially bitter because Earth ponies do not have magic of their own. When magic starts to glitch in and out around Maretime Bay and Earth ponies find their hooves temporarily getting stuck to the ground, Posey assumes it is the work of a unicorn prank and complains to town sheriff Hitch Trailblazer.

As magic glitches in and out more often, causing Pegasi to temporarily lose their ability to fly and crash into other ponies, Posey takes advantage of the growing dissent to rouse even more anti-magic sentiment, declaring that magic should be prohibited from the Bay Day festival. Her words sway other Earth ponies to her way of thinking, dividing the pony races even further. During the celebration of Maretime Bay Day, Posey and her followers create even more tension by claiming Pegasi and unicorns have unfair advantages in festival games, and they reject Pipp Petals' new Maretime Bay Day song.

Toward the end of the special, when a magical storm and threatens to destroy Maretime Bay, Posey and Pegasus Windy get sucked into a black void. Sunny Starscout turns into an Alicorn to save them, and the magic of the Unity Crystals gives Earth ponies the power to make plants grow. In the end, Posey apologizes for the way she acted and asks Pipp to perform her new Bay Day song.

In the Make Your Mark Chapter 2 episode Growing Pains, Posey appears several times when Hitch places restrictions on Earth pony magic. In The Cutie Mark Mix-Up, she participates in the opening of Sunny's community garden and later buys a smoothie from Hitch after his and Sunny's cutie marks get switched. In Hoof Done It?, she briefly appears beside Dahlia during Zipp Storm's search for Sunny's magic lantern. In My Little Pony: Winter Wishday, Posey briefly appears celebrating Winter Wishday with the rest of Maretime Bay.

In My Little Pony: Bridlewoodstock, Posey can be seen in attendance at the eponymous music festival.

In Top Remodel, Posey is among the ponies to approach Sunny and Izzy with a suggestion as to what to do with the defunct Canterlogic building. In Cutie Blossom Bash, Posey is among the ponies watching the event. In Mane Smelody, Posey is among the ponies who get their hooves shined with Pipp's new product. She later reveals to Jazz Hooves that ponies all over Maretime Bay have created a "challenge" to see how long they can stand the terrible created by the flowers used in the process.

In Nightmare on Mane Street, Posey encounters Opaline during Nightmare Night, and believes she is simply a regular pony wearing an Alicorn costume. Opaline proceeds to steal Posey's cutie mark from her, causing her to flee in horror.

In Roots of All Evil Pt. 1, Posey is present when Sunny and her friends return to Maretime Bay atop dragons. In Roots of All Evil Pt. 2, she stands with her fellow Earth ponies and sings in support of Sunny. In the midst of Opaline's defeat, she regains her cutie mark.

Depiction in Tell Your Tale[]

Posey makes multiple supporting and background appearances in the 2D animated YouTube web series My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale, many of said appearances involving her being the subject of physical comedy. In Welcome to Mane Melody, she gets her mane styled into a spiky mohawk at Pipp's Mane Melody beauty salon and gives the establishment a middling review. In The Unboxing of Izzy, she briefly appears painting a Mona Lisa-like portrait outside the Maretime Bay art museum. In Foal Me Once, she alerts Hitch about an art theft at the same museum. In Clip Trot, she criticizes Pipp's recreation of the Bunny Hip Hop as outdated. In It's T.U.E.S. Day, she sits behind a noisy and disruptive Izzy at the movie theater. In Maretime Bay Day 2.0, she appears taking part in a sandcastle building contest and using her plant magic in Pipp's recorded footage of Maretime Bay Day.

In Dumpster Diving, Posey appears when Izzy chases her down for her hoop earrings. In Neighfever, she publicly criticizes Dahlia for causing an outbreak of neighfever in Maretime Bay. In On Your Cutie Marks, she takes part in the first Equestria Games since the pony races reunited. In My Bananas, she laughs at Sunny's expense over her banana slip gone viral. In Zipp's Yes Day, she gets covered in the Mane 5's discarded smoothies. In Another Pony's Trash, she makes several complaints at Pegasi's and unicorns' expense and later organizes the town to help the Mane 5 clean up Maretime Bay. In Puphunt, she helps spread the word around social media about Cloudpuff's disappearance. In Haunted House, she gives out apples and carrots to trick-or-treaters on Nightmare Night, and Sparky Sparkeroni turns the flowers in her garden into spaghetti.

In Sneaksy Strikes Again, Posey appears as the curator of the Maretime Bay art museum, showing off street art to Sunny and Izzy. In Snow Pun Intended, she appears disliking Maretime Bay's snow day, and the Mane 5's attempts to help her have fun mostly result in her getting covered in or falling in snow. With Sparky Sparkeroni's help, Posey enjoys the snow day by having a beach day. In A Day in the Life, she gets her mane styled during Every New Day (Is the Best Day Ever). In Secret Ad-mare-er, she rejects and discards Izzy's Hearts and Hooves Day card, and she gets mad when Izzy picks flowers from her garden just to give them to her. In Sunny's Smoothie Moves, she buys a Tropical Treat smoothie at Sunny's smoothie cart. In Ponytropico, when Posey is getting a mane styling, a sleep-deprived Pipp accidentally burns some of her hair off with a curling iron.

In Bridlewoodstock, Posey gets a Bridlewoodstock makeover from Pipp and later raves over the rest of the Mane 5's improvised makeovers. In Diva and Conquer, she appears in the crowd waiting for Electric Blue to perform. When Hitch and Sparky perform on stage to buy time, Posey and the rest of the crowd prepare to throw tomatoes, and she gets annoyed when Hitch's act gets cheers instead. In Moon Festival, Posey attends the festival. She loses her hat when Zipp uses it to confirm her suspicion that pony magic is somehow being supercharged. At the end of the short, she reacts with resigned annoyance as a model moon rolls toward her. In Scents of Adventure, Posey attends all three of Pipp's perfume launches. In Attack of the Bunnisus, she is briefly scared by the giant Bunnisus' rampage. In Very Bad Hair Day, she is among the ponies whose manes have gone out of control due to Pipp's new mane softener. In Equestria's Got Talent, she is in the audience for the big talent show. In Snow Business Like Show Business, Posey plays the role of Allura in the movie chronicling the events of My Little Pony: Secrets of Starlight.

In Icy Prints, she and Dahlia are able to make an entire grove of new trees grow thanks to the outpouring of cutie mark magic produced by Sunny and her friends. In Heavy is the Mane that Wears the Fruit Crown, Posey attends the Maretime Bay Carnival, only to be annoyed by Izzy when she accidentally pops Posey's balloon with her horn. In Cake Dragon, she gets splattered with frosting from the confectionary-based dragon. In Jazz Hearts Rocky, her makeover gets messed up by Jazz while she is distracted by her crush on Rocky Riff. In Cracked It, Posey is seen as Sunny delivers smoothies around Maretime Bay. She later flees when a giant bird emerges from the large egg that had appeared, believing it to be a "fire hawk".

In The Blockywockys, Posey joins in as Sunny and her friends dance and sing through Maretime Bay. In P + P = BFFs, Posey attends the Boardtrot, buying a magical charm bracelet from Pipp and Izzy. She initially believes the bracelet is defective until she learns that it is a friendship bracelet. Pipp offers to spend some time with Posey, and the two have lots of fun together, causing several charms to appear on Posey's bracelet. In Emotional Rollercoaster, Posey is in line for the "Zippercoaster", and protests when Misty makes her way to the front.

In Sleepover!!, Posey attends a sleepover at the Crystal Brighthouse. While initially planning simply to go right to sleep (having never been at a sleepover before), Posey is quickly drawn into having fun with Sunny and her friends.

Other depictions[]

Posey is featured in the seventh episode of My Little Pony: The Podcast.

IDW comics[]

In Issue #7 of the 2022 My Little Pony comic book series, Posey appears with a pink coat color on page 20. In Issue #14, Posey appears at the community garden and later gets into a fruit stand accident with Izzy's crafting student Violette Rainbow.

Personality[]

In the Make Your Mark Chapter 1 special, Posey is portrayed as snobby, uptight, overly critical, and short-tempered. Unlike the Mane 5 and most other ponies, Posey initially does not accept the return of magic to Equestria and the union between Earth ponies, unicorns, and Pegasi. She makes it clear that she wishes that magic never returned, even convincing some other Earth ponies of her way of thinking. Near the end of the special, however, she expresses remorse for her behavior and admits she felt left out because unicorns and Pegasi got magic while Earth ponies did not.

In Tell Your Tale, Posey retains much of her negative attitude and views as in Make Your Mark, though with less direct hostility. She still has a low opinion about unicorns and Pegasi, as shown in Another Pony's Trash, and other shorts demonstrate her distaste for things other ponies generally enjoy, such as snow and Hearts and Hooves Day. However, other shorts such as The Unboxing of Izzy and Sneaksy Strikes Again show her appreciation for art. By P + P = BFFs, she has become much friendlier to other pony races' members such as Pipp Petals.

Merchandise[]

Toys of Posey Bloom include the 1-inch figure that comes with 4 other figures in the Mini World Magic Epic Mini Crystal Brighthouse set and the 1-inch figure that comes with 21 other figures in the Mini World Magic Mini Equestria Collection.
