The Manesquerade Ball is the twelfth episode of My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, the fifth episode of the series' Chapter 4, and the twelfth episode overall.
In this episode, the Mane 5 attend the Zephyr Heights Manesquerade Ball; when Misty sneaks out of Opaline's castle, the ponies invite her along.
Summary[]
A night of glamour and masks[]
The episode begins with the Mane 5 getting makeovers for a masquerade dance party in Zephyr Heights called the Manesquerade Ball. Sunny Starscout is especially excited to debut a "unity dance" that she personally choreographed for herself and her friends.
Meanwhile, at Opaline's castle, Opaline tasks Misty to guard the castle (both as punishment for her many failures and as a test of her loyalty) while she goes to retrieve the Dragonstone that she failed to obtain in the previous episode. In Opaline's absence, Misty struggles with her choice of remaining loyal to Opaline or going to see her friends.
Although Zipp Storm usually does not like to attend the Manesquerade Ball, she plans to use the opportunity to do research on Alicorn magic in the palace library. When Misty appears, the Mane 5 invite her to come along with them to the ball, and after a quick makeover for her, the group takes off for Zephyr Heights in the Mare Stream vehicle.
Misty comes clean to Zipp[]
Many ponies are in attendance at the Manesquerade Ball, which now welcomes Earth ponies and unicorns and all of whom wear masks to disguise their identities – though Queen Haven's mask fails to disguise hers. Upon arriving, Sunny attempts to teach her friends the unity dance she choreographed, and Alphabittle spends time with Queen Haven.
Meanwhile, Zipp sneaks off to the palace library to research Alicorn magic; Misty secretly follows, worried that she is going to look for information about Opaline. In the archives, Misty finds a book about Alicorns and believes it could be useful to Opaline, but Zipp catches her. Zipp finally confronts Misty about all the mysterious behavior she has shown since the day they met, and while Misty does not reveal her allegiance with Opaline, she does reveal she does not have a real cutie mark.
Misty fears the others will not want to be friends with her because of this, but Zipp assures her that they like her in spite of their differences. In an effort to be more open with her friends, Misty shows Zipp the book she found about Alicorns. Just then, Pipp Petals enters to fetch Zipp and Misty for Sunny's unity dance.
Shake loose, bust a hoof[]
Back in the grand ballroom, Izzy Moonbow cues up the song for Sunny's unity dance. Sunny fears she and her friends have not practiced the dance enough, so the ponies improvise. In the middle of the ballroom floor, the Mane 5 and Misty perform Show Me Your Pony Moves, and it is met with great acclaim from the other ball attendees.
After the Manesquerade Ball, the Mane 5 and Misty watch a video recording of their unity dance at the Crystal Brighthouse. Misty thanks the ponies for inviting her along, and she thanks Zipp for letting her keep being a friend to them. Zipp tells Misty that she is welcome at the Brighthouse any time she wants and offers to let her research Alicorns with her later.
Misty returns to Opaline's castle before Opaline discovers Misty disobeyed her orders. Having succeeded in obtaining the Dragonstone, Opaline prepares for the next phase of her plan. When Zipp later looks through the book on Alicorns that Misty gave her, she discovers some pages have been recently ripped out, unaware that Misty herself took them.
