From the beginning on September 18th 2011, Rainbow Dash was my favorite pony. She later shared that position with Fluttershy.
But while she has had some episodes focusing on the better side of her personality like Hurricane Fluttershy, Sleepless in Ponyville, Wonderbolt Academy, and Buckball Season, every episode past Buckball Season except Common Ground, The Washouts, and any villain episode has focused on her not-so-good side, especially Non-Compete Clause and 2 4 6 Greaaat. Even before Buckball Season there was 28 Pranks Later and Tanks for the Memories.
Because Rainbow seems to have done nothing but regress over the course of Seasons 7-9 beyond her worst in Season 1, I'm not sure if she should be my favorite pony anymore. Similar to how Pinkie stopped being fun to have around in later seasons and got demoted far down my list.
Can someone please help convince me she hasn't permamently regressed into an arrogant jerk and that the Rainbow Dash I know and love is still there, just not getting as much focus due to the later writers not knowing what to do with her?
(This blog is about the pony, my only real attachment to Equestria Girls is Sunset Shimmer, so no need to try to defend the main villain of Spring Breakdown)
One last note, her love for snow and f**t jokes isn't a factor here, I can live with her liking stuff I really dislike. Fluttershy loves spiders and fears dragons (except baby dragons or dragons like Ember, Smolder, or even Garble), where I fear spiders and love dragons, and I'm nowhere close to questioning her as my favorite pony.
