Oops Double Post

Hello! im Tuckyd and admin on the Gravity Falls wiki, EvergreenFir told me about your image control and we would like to be able to implement that on our wiki! Would you please tell me how you do it! Thank you, Tuckyd

I'm assuming you had a discussion on on your wiki. I don't know how things run on your wiki, but just contact Wikia, and they'll create a group with the specific user rights tailored to that group, plus they can call it whatever the community voted on (so in case you don't want to use "Image Control" or "Custodian"), or however things are decided over there. If you want a group with the same rights that the group has here, it needs the "movefile" user right, the "noratelimit" user right, and the "suppressredirect" user right. Also, if you want, you can give them the right to delete pictures as well; however, the "delete" user right applies to all namespaces, so if you don't want them to be able to delete pages from any namespace, you're going to want to copy over our Abuse Filter #4. I don't know if non-admins can see the abuse filters, so if you want, I could copy over the text from "Export this filter to another wiki" to here. -- This is Jonny Manz, signing off! 19:06, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

Chat Themes

Hi I'm from the [Icarus Wiki]. Were you the one who made the code for the dual themed chat? If so can you help me with doing it on my wiki. I tried typing in the codes you had on your Chat.css; Chat.js; and Chat.js/load.js. I then typed in custom settings for my wiki but it doesn't work. I took out the part that made the chat moderator icon change depending on the time but everything else is there. Can you check it and then tell me what I did wrong, or I could give you admin rights for a little while so you can edit it yourself. It would be very helpful if you could do this for my wiki.--Captain Comet (talk) 12:37, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Responded on your wiki.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  10:26, August 8, 2012 (UTC)

Editing a page

Could you (or another admin) please edit this blog post and replace the redlinked image at the top with this one? I am being prevented by the excessive capitalization abuse filter, heh. I even had a nice edit summary typed up, though I assume it's too long: "eww jpg, I'll be replacing it eventually - it's an early episode so shouldn't be too long from now unless school tremendously gets in the way - just re-linking for now. Also "fraightening scene's in grafic" [caps removed]? >_>" Anyway, that's assuming admins are allowed to bypass the filters :P. Thanks, ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 05:46, August 8, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, admins are also subject to the abuse filter. We should add an exception for that... I've renamed your image and removed the capitalization. Apparently it thought that any capitalization was excessive on that blog, hah.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  10:21, August 8, 2012 (UTC)

Recent Changes js

Unfortunately, ?limit=x still isn't working on my RC page, so it looks like I'll just have to use the normal RC page all the time. Do you know of any way to make all the collapsible things automatically uncollapsed when the page is loaded? It's pretty dumb that they do that, especially now that sometimes clicking on one just takes you to the top of the page. Hopefully a fix would be able to include the usual Wikia half-assed fix for grouped article comments. Thanks for any help, I wish I were better with JS. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 21:00, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

I'll look into it over the next few days, just finishing some things up at the moment.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  21:28, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

"Wonderbolts" -> "Wonder Bolts"?

There seemed to be agreement on Forum:"The Wonderbolts" article name that The Wonderbolts (and by extension List of Wonderbolts) should be renamed to match the most official spelling, but the forum has since been archived and the {{move}} template removed from both articles, without any renaming. Is there any reason that the articles weren't renamed? 20:51, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Not a baby

Spike is not a baby dragon any more he is a young dragon plus you do not call a baby dragon a baby you call them a hatchling.

Orion001 (talk) 01:06, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Quote from Friendship is Magic, part 1:
Fluttershy: [gasps] A baby dragon!
Fluttershy: Oh, I've never seen a baby dragon before. He's sooo cute!
Spike: Well, well, well...!
Fluttershy: Oh my, he talks. I didn't know dragons could talk. That's just so incredibly wonderful I, I just don't even know what to say!
Twilight Sparkle: Well, in that case we'd better be going.
Fluttershy: Wait, wait! What's his name?
Spike: I'm Spike.
Fluttershy: Hi Spike, I'm Fluttershy. Wow, a talking dragon! And what do dragons talk about?
Spike: Well, what do you wanna know?
Fluttershy: Absolutely everything.
Twilight Sparkle: [groans]
Spike: Well... I started out as a cute little purple and green egg...
Spike: ...and that's the story of my whole entire life! Well, up until today. Do you wanna hear about today?
Fluttershy: Oh, yes, please!
Spike: Gyah!
Twilight Sparkle: I am so sorry, how did we get here so fast? This is where I'm staying while in Ponyville and my poor baby dragon needs his sleep.
They do indeed refer to him as a "baby dragon". Them referring to Spike as a "baby dragon" in the show therefore makes him a baby dragon. There is nothing incorrect about calling him a baby dragon, and therefore no reason to undo the previous edit. In the future, please do not undo previous edits until the discussion about it is resolved. Thanks!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  01:11, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
He is a baby dragon, and that is a fact, so this conversation is therefore pointless. 600px-Fluttershy_for_bluesir.pngBluesir 01:22, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
thats right ! i am with you in this case ,they said that he is a baby draon only becuase their are dragons bigger in part 1 too ! i have a picture for baby cute spike , he is so much younger than now !!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinkiepie444 (talkcontribs)
I assume the picture that you have is fanmade, in which case cannot be used in the main namespace of this wiki.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  06:19, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
The So Soft toys' official term for younger Spike (shown in Twilight Sparkle's flashback during The Cutie Mark Chronicles and in a photo during Dragon Quest) is "newborn" rather than "hatchling" (and newborn Spike is referred to as a baby dragon like his current self is, as seen in this Hasbro description and this toy commercial). 07:28, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Mini-editor on Chat

RandomRock – Hedgehog Reborn
TALK – 00:25, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
Hello, my name is RandomRock from the Nickelodeon Wiki. I can see you are very good with MediaWiki and such, and possibly can you add the mini-editor (the editor used on comments) on the chat. The Nickelodeon Wiki might use it.
Without support in the core coding of the chat to support message editing, I'm afraid that's near impossible. It would be too much work and effort to achieve than it is worth in the end. I'm sorry.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  03:31, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

I have re-added the script. Please do not abuse it again, or I will remove it once more.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  03:22, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Madnessfan34537 from the Call of Duty Wiki. I was looking through the Archived Forums on here, and saw a Forum about giving Chat Moderators the ability to add Emoticons. I was going to open a Forum on the Call of Duty Wiki about the same thing, as I love the idea. I just want to check with you to see if the script works, and stuff like that. -- Madnessfan34537 Talk

If you've found the forum, then I'm sure you've also read the forum. There is a security risk with the method used to only allow chat mods and admins with a major vulnerability. Yes, the page would be patrolled like any other page on Recent Changes, but it is a vulnerability nonetheless. I need to rework it some day when I have time using a different method, but at this moment I don't have much time.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  03:21, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Your so cool ~ Gigipony

Sir, forgive my computer for the bad formatting issues. It tends to do strange things. However, I would like to inform you that I feel I have been permabanned from the chat under false pretenses by Bluesir. I do not mean any disrespect to him. However, as you know, we personally discussed the topic, and therefore, I don't believe this was done with your knowledge. If you could, I would most likely respect it if you could contact Bluesir. Not for the sake of interrogation, but to find out of my appeal could be met, and that I could be unbanned. I highly appreciate your input.

Zakattacks (talk) 03:05, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

At this point, I ask that you take it to the forums. That way the discussion will be recorded and can be seen by everyone.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  10:04, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

Removing personal pages

Thank you for removing the defunct page :) Can I delete my own pages if I think they're no longer useful? If so, how? Steph physarum (talk) 10:38, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

Deleting pages is a right only available to administrators (and Image Control for files). If you need a page deleted, you will need to ask an administrator on their talk page, or mark it with the {{delete}} template and it will be deleted when an administrator looks at Category:Candidates for deletion.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  10:41, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

Shouldn't the category include the "The"? There's still some usage ambiguity, but that at least seems more correct. I believe it was Category:The Wonderbolts before the other move. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 05:02, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Could you please delete both versions of that file? I hadn't caught the typo in the filename. Thanks in advance.

--Who would win in a fight between you and yo mama? (talk) 22:46, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

I did not know about this file when I uploaded my image:

Please don't delete mine, though. I shrunk it from it's original size because as the "profile picture", it doesn't need to be any bigger than it is; the page will also load faster because the new image is smaller and takes up much less space.

--Who would win in a fight between you and yo mama? (talk) 23:08, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, deleted it before I saw this. The size difference is relatively negligible, I believe, and the other image is nearly twice the size in terms of pixels, so I think it's better. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 23:25, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

Personally, I prefer that Apple_Bloom_asking_Twilight_to_stay_for_brunch.png be the image because it's Apple Bloom's most memorable moment.

--Who would win in a fight between you and yo mama? (talk) 23:52, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

In truth, whether you use a big or small image as a profile picture, the load time is exactly the same. Because of the systems Wikis uses, their servers shrink the image on their side before the image is served to you. No matter how big the source image is, you'll always be served a 250px image. (example)  Food 25px-Surprise.png  00:20, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

But what about images with a large file size?

--Who would win in a fight between you and yo mama? (talk) 00:30, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

It will be resized to the requested dimensions, making the file size the same no matter how large the original image is.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  00:35, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

Just wondering, are you still using said page? If not, it would be best to delete it so that, for example, images don't have to be replaced in two places. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 22:11, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

I suppose not, I just used it to fix the List of ponies page before we disabled visual editing is all. I've deleted it.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  02:53, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

Redlink JS

I guess decodeURIComponent shouldn't be there because it isn't actually working. I described what I meant to do in my most recent post on the forum topic (not sure why it was archived). I wasn't sure how to decode stuff. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 08:49, December 15, 2012 (UTC)

Ahh. As far as I know, the URI returned in JavaScript objects isn't encoded, though. Wikia automatically decodes and redirects to the decoded URI IIRC. Good job on the coding, by the way. I never would've thought of using JavaScript to interpret the anchor to make a link to the page's history.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  00:59, December 16, 2012 (UTC)
It has to encode the anchor or something, and when I put that in as the href directly it doesn't get decoded. The two links here do not work with it, and I assume any similar characters will break also. It looks like anchor encoding uses . instead of % (same codes though) and the function can't handle it, and I think I have an idea how to fix it now. And thanks, good to know my brain still works sometimes :P. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 03:57, December 16, 2012 (UTC)
Hooray, fixed, mostly. The problem is that decodeURIComponent returns a blank string if there's an error in it, it seems, and passing it anything with a lone % does that. So it will still not work for any file that has "." in the middle of it. Everything else is fine though. Actually, not quite, because the way I did the file extension replacements changes uppercase to lowercase. I don't really want to write out 20 replacements, and I assume the best way to do it is a loop through an array or something - if you have time, could you put that in? Assuming you get what I'm trying to do there. In fact, maybe there's a better way that would work in all cases, and that would be even better. But yeah, it should work for most cases now. Thanks again for the help. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 04:52, December 16, 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, I see what you mean... that's entirely odd, for sure. That encoding seems to be happening on Wikia's end, and it doesn't seem like it should be happening. I've asked staff about it meanwhile, and once I get a reply I'll think about the best way to accomplish what we're trying to do. Thanks!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  12:46, December 16, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you about JS again, but I have a relatively simple one and I'm not sure why it's not working. I was trying to change the chat page title since I noticed it had some wikilinks and stuff in it (and was way too long besides) and that text didn't seem to be stored in any system message. Here's what I tried on Chat.js and Common.js but didn't work either time. I left it on Common just in case it can be made to work somehow. Thanks, ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 07:28, December 23, 2012 (UTC)

No worries at all, hah. I'm sorry I haven't been around much as of late, I'm trying to get things wrapped up here and there. You're code is indeed correct and works. The only issue is that Common.js is not loaded into Special:Chat. I can assume from long nights spent coding for the chat that the reason your code didn't work in MediaWiki:Chat.js is because of a really really annoying caching issue. I've removed it from MediaWiki:Common.js and added the single line back to MediaWiki:Chat.js. In Special:Chat, the additional scripts are not loaded until after the page's load event already triggers, so there's no reason to use $('document').ready();. Thanks Bobogoobo!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  01:21, December 24, 2012 (UTC)
Aha, okay. I forgot about the caching delay the first time, guess I should've waited longer or tried a different browser. I don't usually use chat anyway, just went in once and felt compelled to fix it as usual :P. Thanks! ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 07:00, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

One more small (edit: not so small) request. I'm not familiar with how MediaWiki:Common.js/userRightsIcons.js works and I don't want to break it, but I want to add something: a link to contribs on a "banned from chat" tag to help people know why they've been banned (hopefully). The variable should look like this, I believe (probably need to do a replace for spaces to underscores in wgTitle, or use wgPageName and take out the "User:"):

var chatBan = "<a href='" + wgTitle + "'><span style='color:white'>Banned from chat</span></a>";

Could you add that, please? Also, I'm pretty sure the hrefs only need to start at "/wiki/" but meh. Thanks! ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 09:40, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

Actually, I looked at it a bit more and it looks like you'd need somehow to see if <span class="tag">Banned From Chat</span> exists, and if so, add that user to the dictionary (I assume that's what {} means as in Python). I'm not really sure how to do that, but if you don't have time I can do more research. Unless I'm just overthinking this, heh. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 10:14, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
It would be a conditional statement that checks if there is a tag whose html is "BANNED FROM CHAT", and if so, wrap span.tag inside of an anchor element. I'll take a look when I get home from work.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  21:33, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
Okie doke, its done.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  23:39, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

JavaScript, again

I'm wondering if you could help me polish up some JS once again. I tried to write some code that splits the Table of Contents into three columns, but it doesn't seem to be working: see the last section of User:Bobogoobo/wikia.js (if you want to test it, you may want to choose a smaller page :P. Though note that only level-2 headings will exist on the one it's for, so it doesn't need to handle level-3 or smaller.). Can it be fixed, or is my method fundamentally flawed? Do I need to do what I described at the bottom? There was some CSS that did something similar but it didn't look quite as good as altering the source can. Thanks! ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 10:04, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

The method that you decided to use is extremely sound, and I'll admit, I never thought about doing it that way. The two lines near the end are trying to edit the HTML of an array, though, of which an array has no innerHTML node. I'll take a look at it when I return from work today, great job thus far!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  11:12, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
Is this what you had in mind? I haven't tested it on multi-level, although it should theoretically work (it may split the level two links into a second column, but that's easily fixable if it happens). Let me know how it works for you and of any changes that you feel are needed, although I'm sure you can perform them yourself seeing how far you got on this script. I'd also like to admit me being wrong about the innerHTML part above. I didn't realize that toArray() actually kept them intact as DOM Elements.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  22:27, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
Looks good to me! I'm not really sure what all the stuff you added does, but I'm curious, why does tdToAppend need three nested tables? And yeah, I was happy to find that even changing something in the array applied it to the source. As for implementing this for all users, do you think maybe the containing if statement could be changed to apply if the page's TOC's parent has a certain class, say "toc-multicol"? That way we could put it in the common JS and put some simple code on any page to apply it. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 01:19, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
That is a direct emulation of Wikia's coding. I didn't want me changing anything small to affect the entire thing from working, but feel free to change it up and see if there's any positive or negative impact on the page. The simplest thing that comes to mind concerning your last question is putting an anchor on the page with the id "toc-multicol" and style="display: none;", and changing the if statement to if (document.getElementById("toc-multicol").length != 0){ . The anchor can even be put into and easy-to-use template that transcludes it.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  01:58, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Eh, I wouldn't know how to avoid breaking it, it's fine as is. What about something like if ($(".toc-multicol #toc").size() != 0) { ? (I'm thinking the code on the page would be <div class="toc-multicol">__TOC__</div> which I think is simple enough not to need a template.) ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 02:18, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
That would work in the same way, and it's good to see that the div doesn't negatively affect the placement of the TOC. The only thing that I was trying to avoid was containing the TOC inside of something, as that would require that it's declared on the page with __TOC__. Using an anchor, it's a standalone tag that doesn't need to be wrapped around anything. My reasons for that are entirely personal, it really makes no difference on what method you choose.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  02:28, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I see. I don't really like putting hidden things as much, and using the behavior switch wouldn't really require a template, which is also nice. I'll use my method for now, but it can of course be changed later. I'm not really expecting this to be used much anyway, but it's handy to have around and for future reference. Thanks as always for all your help! ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 02:58, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Yep yep, no worries! Feel free to ask about anything in the future.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  03:01, January 25, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, sorry, I completely forgot about that! Thanks for reminding me. I've thought of an easy way to do it stemming off of the method that you tried, and I'll try to look at it by tomorrow or the next day.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  02:08, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

That title is based on the in-universe (or fandom universe in this case) spelling of "Main Six". This wiki is also against the use of disambiguation pages whenever possible. The group of main characters is not referred to the "Main Six" in the show, and if people are coming here searching the main characters, they are more likely to search for them by name rather than "Mane Six".  Food 25px-Surprise.png  00:42, January 30, 2013 (UTC)

A Great Admin

Helping Me Out

I just wanted to thank you once again for helping me out when someone was asking me for personal information.  You really showed a great deal of leadership the way you banned that user who's name I will not say due to privacy sake.  You helped me solve most of the problem except that we blocked the wrong person.  The one we blocked was the one that did the offense but the mastermind of the plan to get me globally banned was the idea of someone else who has a large role in this wiki.

But there has not been any trouble or aftermath of that problem so I thank you for your help.  You truly are doing your job properly as an admin.

P.S. I want to catch up with you on chat one time cause I have not spoken to you in a while and I wanted to know what you thought of the season finale.

Gallery Picture on the Magical Mystery Cure

I don't know how to leave comments about why I made a certain edit... if you could tell me how to do that it would be helpful.  I changed the gallery picture because that same image is already used elsewhere on the page, literally a few paragraphs up, regarding her transformation.  If you want to keep it the same, then you need to change the other picture, it looks rediculous with the same picture twice.

Additionally, I chose the new picture, because it looks like a photograph anyways, with all the ponies in their own spotlights... and the episode was a musical.

(20 Percent Cooler In 10 Seconds Flat (talk) 04:59, March 17, 2013 (UTC))

Right in the summary box. I agree with you, maybe we can still find a more representative image but it should be one that isn't already used on the page. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 05:03, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I didn't realize that the image was used elsewhere on the page. I liked the old image better because it looked better scaled-down, and you could better make out what was going on. Depending on whether you have the sidebar expanded or not on the edit page, the summary box can be in the upper-right or the very top of the page.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  05:10, March 17, 2013 (UTC)

Yo Food...An Odd Request

Hey Foodbandit..this might seem like an odd request, but I would like to be blocked from the wiki until the 15 (aka tomorrow).  As you might know, I'm not too fond of EG and...other events that happened, and I don't want to have the ability to possibly say something outlandish if I see a comment that upsets me on it.  So what I want to do is have a day to calm down and take a short wiki break, and getting blocked will be a good incentive to stay off.

So, when you get this message please block the user and IP adress until May 15 or a period of one day.  Thanks.

Queue help

Hey Food, I put 146 images in your queue rename thing, but I've been waiting over an hour for it to process and it still hasn't. Do you know if this is normal or not, or if I can have any assistance without clearing the list? Thanks,   15:53, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

I've never done anything on that large of a scale before, honestly. I know you know how to use the JavaScript console, so go into that and paste this: localStorage["∫_LIRPageKey"] and this: localStorage["∫_LIRQueueData"] (not at the same time). Paste the values of those two variables on Pastebin or here and I'll take a look and process it when I return home. Once you know for sure that you've given me the full values of those two variables, you can execute this in one line to clear your queue so you can continue editing: delete localStorage["∫_LIRPageKey"]; delete localStorage["∫_LIRQueueData"]; For the moment I'm going to suggest that you keep queue processing to ~50 images until I read through what you send me. Thanks!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  17:00, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
Okay for the first variable I got this and for the second I got this. I'm hoping eventually the queue will actually work despite it's being overwhelmed more than usual, if it doesn't work past 2 hours I'll just clear it (I don't have anything better to do meanwhile so don't worry). Thanks for the help :)   17:19, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
If you want, go ahead and open up the console before processing the queue, then hit process. If it's been running this long, then an error must've been thrown.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  17:29, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
There was no errors; all I got was "Getting page contents", (this appeared once right after I begun processing again) and after 2 and a half hours I gave up. Nothing appeared after the getting page contents line in the console.   21:37, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
Okie doke, I've fixed it. You had over 200 pages in the page cache... so it sort of overwhelmed the GET request. I honestly didn't think about that, hah. I've updated it to use a POST request, which has a much higher limit... one that you'll probably never meet. Thanks for pointing it out, Oz!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  01:48, June 6, 2013 (UTC)

Cherry Jubilee

I think Cherry Jubilee should have a page for these 2 following reasons.

1. She was an important part of the Last Roundup

2. If Jet Set and Upper Crust have a page why shouldn't she?

I do hope you understand.

Rebecca Carson here! Prepared to take your questions! (talk) 03:34, June 17, 2013 (UTC)

Hi! Feel free to start a page in the Workshop for Cherry Jubilee. Every character can have a page, but at the end of the day it comes down to how much content you can write on their page. For some characters there is simply not enough content to go on their page without further speculation of what was actually shown in the episode. By making a page in the Workshop, you are not constrained by any time limits and other editors can help you out with adding content and general page formatting. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Thanks!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  03:38, June 17, 2013 (UTC)
Workshop time isn't technically unlimited because pages there can be deleted if they lie stagnant and unfinished for too long. You can compare Cherry Jubilee to a page like Little Strongheart, which has in fact been nominated for deleted before. Sure, Cherry has the advantage of appearing in the mobile game, but she didn't play too big a part in the episode; she only has six lines. I'm not sure you'll have enough content to be worth a page, but you're of course welcome to give it a try. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 40?cb=20120702121758 03:43, June 17, 2013 (UTC)

Gallery Template

Hi! I was thinking that we should use this for the wiki's galleries: {{Gallery Start}} So and so pictures... {{Gallery End}} I say it would be better if we use this foe the galleries. ModrenSonic(talk) 30 Jul 2013 00:53 (UTC)

I think using templates in order to signify the start and stop points of galleries would just needlessly complicate things (heck, we use templates, in addition to the gallery tags, for index galleries anyway now); I think <gallery> and </gallery> (like we use now) are fine. But you're free to bring up discussion in the forum, so it's not just my input you're getting.-- Undisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.pngJonny Manztalkcontribse-mailedit count 02:16, July 30, 2013 (UTC)Disguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.png

More queue problems

Hi Food, I was unable to execute a queue once when it had "-2 waiting pages" even after I tried to refresh the waiting pages many times. It moved the pages though (which I will be reverting and trying this again in the future) for now. – Ozuzanna 11:43, September 13, 2013 (UTC)

Apology and thank you for yours

First off, sorry for not taking into consideration that you didn't know action was taken on Bos and Nitz than just Crater, I forgot you can't be as active as you could be with the ambox on your talk etc. It was a misunderstanding for both of us too and also apologies for being brutal in some of my responses. Kind regards, – Ozuzanna 12:33, October 2, 2013 (UTC)

Chat message question

Apologies for the rude entry, but I would most appreciate it if I could be helped in getting MediaWiki:Chat-headline to work again. In January, I copied the MW page and Common.js details from here so my wiki could have a Chat headline to inform new users of the rules too. I think the headline was lost during the recent MW upgrade Wikia performed and I can't get it restored. I've tried cp'ing the two codes again, but nothing. Could you help me get Chat-headline to work again? Parrotbeak (talk) 14:28, November 14, 2013 (UTC)

Same here; I'm having the same problems on the Fan Wiki.-- Undisguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.pngJonny Manztalkcontribse-mailedit count 19:05, November 14, 2013 (UTC)Disguised_Nyx_by_AibotNya.png

Hi! I was told you developed some code for the day and night chats. I have that on my wiki, and it is doing something strange. I was directed here. Well, told you would be able to help. It's not a problem necessarily or urgent or anything and it's not a problem if you can't find the time. But anyway, my chatters are nagging me to fix it. So get back to me if you can! :) Thanks! I'm a cotton headed ninny muggins. :( 21:55, December 12, 2013 (UTC)

Hello Food, I read that you're not here but Bobo sent me to you. You see, the toc-multicol class appears not to properly 'multicolumnize' the toc. It takes the whole width, but doesn't help reduce height anymore. If you ever get this, would you advise any remedy ? Thanks —  Drake  2014-I-26 15:12 (UTC)

Automatic file links replace

I've just borrowed your script. It seems to be working fine, but I couldn't access queue until I removed:

if (typeof LIR === "undefined")

Is this part really important? Vengir (talk) 15:38, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

That part is only there so you don't get two versions of the script with broken functionality. If the wiki you're using it on already has it enabled elsewhere, that may be why you had to remove that to get it to work. The queue wasn't added to the script until long after I released it, so it's definitely possible that the wiki is running an older version of the script in it's js pages.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  15:51, March 30, 2014 (UTC)
Seems to make sense, but I couldn't find this code anywhere, and my Google Chrome console claimed, that LIR was not defined. It's weird, but at least it works now (after translating some stuff into wiki language), of course. Vengir (talk) 16:06, March 30, 2014 (UTC)
When you say that you couldn't access the queue, do you mean that you couldn't add things to the queue or you couldn't access the ui to execute things that you added? Also, sorry for not adding multi-language support. It's sort of a messy script, hah.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  16:36, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

Bug when updating file names

Even though you've gone inactive, I hope that you'll still be able to read this message eventually. A bug has occurred during renaming of file name over here. The intended action was to rename file "File:The rappin' Hist'ry of the Wonderbolts" to "File:The rappin' Hist'ry of the Wonderbolts - Spanish (Spain)", since I forgot to write language tag when uploading the file. However, the script also "updated" the names of all other filenames that followed the same pattern, as well as Polish interwiki. I know this is pretty niche case and possibly hard to fix, but I thought I would bring it to your attention just in case. Vengir (talk) 11:23, October 18, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know! I'll take a look and see if I can tweak the regex to fix that.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  14:49, October 21, 2014 (UTC)
Done. This might break other things as well, but thinking it out it doesn't seem like it will. Let me know if you notice anything else that doesn't work quite right.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  15:38, October 21, 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I think I'm starting to get it. So in this case, the regex matched all characters after the title until newline. Was it because it was miswritten and it always did so and wasn't noticed until now, or just because it couldn't match other, alternative regexes? I'm not sure how an alternative of non-greedy matches works, but the intuition tells me, it would want to choose the most greedy of non-greedy. Now I think it should work better, but the previous version makes me wonder. Vengir (talk) 16:06, October 21, 2014 (UTC)
Initially I started with a simple regex for a single case and added on to it as I found more use cases for having images used on pages. With the introduction of videos being used as File pages, it removed a part that I assumed would always be there, that being the file type. Without the type extension there is no single way to tell when the name of a File page name ends and where the rest of the content that follows it begins. It was left there from early in development because it was one of the easiest catchall expressions. When it was looking for a match it stops at the first match, no matter how greedy it is (to my knowledge). The first match was always the one that matched everything after the initial file name up to newline. Without file extensions there can now be multiple File names that have other file names contained in them, so I had to account for what should (hopefully) follow the file name signifying the end of it.
Tl;dr the expression has been built up enough over time now that there's no reason to match the entire rest of the line. The non-greedy space followed by a newline is for compatibility with gallery pages now. If you notice any other issues with it please let me know, though!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  16:17, October 21, 2014 (UTC)

Portable infoboxes

Heya! Hope you'll have time to drop by a new forum thread I've just created about converting the infoboxes here at MLP to something that'll work a little better for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who use this site monthly! — CzechOut 19:52, October 19, 2015 (UTC)

A new way to tab in infoboxes

Hey again :) Just wanted to get your feedback about a new kind of infobox tabbing that actually works in mobile. We're really excited to hear what you think, so please drop by Forum:Tabs in infoboxes if you can! Thanks! — CzechOut 21:37, October 29, 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Foodbandlt. I want to talk to you about something.

Just recently, I faced an issue with the gadgets not appearing on my preferences. I decided to go to MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition to make a null edit, but the page doesn't allow me to. So I decided to ask ImperfectXIII and he said he also faced the same problem too and told me to try asking you about it.

With that, I want to ask: Why can't we access the page?  Sunset_Shimmer_happy.png Golden Bluebird Sunset_Shimmer_cutie_mark.png 16:51, November 9, 2015 (UTC)

Wikia has recently implemented a review process for javascript pages on all wikis. From my understanding this bled over to all Mediawiki pages, rather than just javascript pages. If you need to edit that page, use Special:Contact/general and they should be able to help you out there until they finish developing whatever system they plan to implement. Not the most efficient method, but it's all we've got for the moment.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  18:37, November 9, 2015 (UTC)
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for responding.  Sunset_Shimmer_happy.png Golden Bluebird Sunset_Shimmer_cutie_mark.png 18:40, November 9, 2015 (UTC)
AFAIK, javascript review system is already implemented and fully functional, but many MediaWiki pages remain forever locked from editing for security reasons. MediaWiki pages allowed for editing is available at Help:System messages/whitelist. Vengir (talk) 19:42, November 9, 2015 (UTC)
Ahh, all right. I thought it was a side-effect of the javascript review. Thanks Vengir!  Food 25px-Surprise.png  20:17, November 9, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for informing us, Vengir.  Sunset_Shimmer_happy.png Golden Bluebird Sunset_Shimmer_cutie_mark.png 20:27, November 9, 2015 (UTC)

Image question

Hi, Juan The American Brony linked me to you regarding a way to automatically change links when a file is renamed (to correct it on the pages it's on). If there's a way to do this without always leaving a redirect, I'd be grateful if you could share your secrets (only if you want to) ;) Peacexfreedom (talk) 00:14, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

The script he's referring to can be found here with instructions on how to install it: [1] . If you cannot suppress the redirect normally, this will still not enable you to suppress the redirect.  Food 25px-Surprise.png  00:44, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

Overdue unban

Hey Foodbandit. Whilst looking though some old pictures of mine I decdiede to check up on a user that I had taken a picture of ages ago. Out of boredom I decided to look up that user on other wikis to see what he was up to. The user in question was Xfiles90210. According to his contribs page that user had a 5 month ban from chat that was to be lifted. That reasoning was left July 9, 2012, meaning it's well over the 5 month period. I just wanted to bring it to your attention in case you wanted to do anything with it. -
